Javier Bardem Drama ‘The Beloved’ From Director Rodrigo Sorogoyen Heading to EFM With Goodfellas (EXCLUSIVE)

The Spanish drama “El Ser Querido,” directed by award-winning filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen (“The Realm,” “The Beasts”), starring Javier Bardem, is set to appear at EFM under the English title “The Beloved.” Goodfellas will be introducing this project to potential buyers.

The movie, featuring Victoria Luengo (“The Room Next Door”), delves into a dramatic tale revolving around a renowned filmmaker and his daughter, who is struggling in her acting career. Having been apart for many years, they join forces to create a film, which compels them to address a difficult past that both have avoided. The script was penned by Sorogoyen.

The movie is being made by Sorogoyen’s Madrid production company, Caballo Films. Alongside this, Movistar Plus+ and Le Pacte are also involved in its production. Le Pacte will distribute the film within France.

This year, Javier Bardem received a nomination for a Golden Globe for his role in Netflix’s limited series titled “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez.” Recently, he has appeared in “Dune: Part Two” and the live-action adaptation of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” and also provided voiceover work for “Spellbound.” His last film in Spanish was the 2021 black comedy, “The Good Boss,” which represented Spain during the 2022 Oscar race.

Recently, Sorogoyen has been at the helm of “The New Years,” a production that made its global debut at the Venice Film Festival not long ago. Prior to this, his film “The Beasts” clinched the award for Best Foreign Film at the César Awards in France and enjoyed commercial success in numerous nations.
