New Regency Drives Into Europe Acquiring Smart Genre Crime Thriller ‘Beyond,’ From CBS Studios, ARD, Syrreal (EXCLUSIVE)

To expand strategically and aligning with some contemporary smart TV investments, New Regency has teamed up with Bravado Equity to venture into Europe. This marks their initial European series acquisition – “Beyond” (also known as “Oderbruch”), one of the most notable recent television successes in Europe.

New Regency is set to premiere “Beyond” during the London TV Screenings, with exclusive previews scheduled for selected attendees on February 24th and 25th – marking its initial public showing.

The “Beyond” TV show has the potential to be produced with top-notch quality and attract significant financial backing from Europe’s abundant resources, given its classification as a prestige drama in entertainment circles.

In a first-look TV deal between CBS Studios and Syrreal Entertainment based in Berlin, the series “Beyond” is being produced. This production company is also associated with ARD Degeto, the film division of Germany’s ARD (the largest public broadcaster in Europe). Notably, ARD has been venturing into more ambitious series, such as the 2024 Canneseries winner “The Zweiflers,” and “Beyond” is no exception.

In a first-look TV deal between CBS Studios and Berlin’s Syrreal Entertainment, “Beyond” is being produced. This production company includes ARD Degeto, the film division of Germany’s largest public broadcaster in Europe (ARD). ARD has been producing more ambitious series recently, such as the 2024 Canneseries winner “The Zweiflers,” and “Beyond” fits this pattern.

The project is additionally backed by the German Motion Picture Fund and the Polish Film Institute, in partnership with Bravado Equity.

Under the guidance of directors Adolfo J. Kolmerer, known for “The Island” and “The Calendar Killer,” and Christian Alvart, famous for “The Island” and “Free Country,” this gripping mystery unfolds. The story commences with the chilling revelation of 248 deceased bodies and skeletons found buried in a heap within a barren field along Germany’s border with Poland, a desolate marshland region.

The investigation into a serial killer reunites former police officer Maggie Kring (previously seen in “Tatort” and “Dark Woods”) with detective Roland Voit (known from “Dogs of Berlin” and “Dark”), who had been separated for over two decades.

They find themselves compelled to uncover and face the common history surrounding Maggie’s brother’s demise, a truth that heavily distresses her, as the killings start to align with an age-old tale about the “Mighty Game Warden.

Visually appealing yet tense right from the start due to an ominous electronic soundtrack, this suspense thriller seamlessly blends elements of a routine investigation with an unfathomable reality that’s downright jarring. As the tension escalates, it becomes a powerful cocktail where past events have a substantial impact, be it on a personal level, historically, or in a fantastical sense.
