The Vietnamese family drama titled “The Real Sister” is set to appear on international screens after achieving great success within Vietnam. Produced by Live On, this film has held the top spot at the Vietnamese box office for five consecutive weeks. Beginning February 21st, it will be distributed across North America through Eastern Edge Films Inc. (EEF), with further releases scheduled in Australia and New Zealand on February 27th via Infinity Entertainment.

Ever since its December 2024 debut in Vietnam, I’ve found myself drawn to a heart-wrenching movie that has truly captured the nation’s attention, outshining even the biggest studio productions. This film has amassed an impressive $4.4 million from over 1.3 million tickets sold, securing a spot among Vietnam’s top five highest-grossing domestic films of the year.

Under the direction of Khuong Ngoc and produced by Pham Tran Bao Quyen, the film titled “The Real Sister” brings together a powerful female cast from Vietnam’s box office, featuring Viet Huong, Hong Dao, Ngoc Trinh, Le Khanh, and Dinh Y Nhung. This drama revolves around a terminally ill sister-in-law who reunites with her four younger sisters. However, as family tensions that had been brewing for years come to the surface, their reunion becomes anything but harmonious.

Based in New Jersey, EEF, established by Jawahar Sharma, concentrates on disseminating Asian and Arabic-language films, both theatrical and non-theatrical, throughout North America. In the rollout of “The Real Sister,” EEF collaborates with public relations specialist Dr. Jacqueline Thu Thao and marketing guru Bryan Khoi Nguyen to lead the North American promotional efforts for the film.

1) Skyline Media is responsible for global sales, and they plan to exhibit the film at Berlin’s European Film Market (EFM) this month and at FilMart in Hong Kong in March. This movie is a highlight of Skyline’s 2025 collection featuring Vietnamese and Southeast Asian productions, which encompasses “The Ancestral Home,” a horror-comedy; the Thai-Vietnamese chiller titled “The Bride”; the thriller known as “The Silent Game”; a music documentary called “Hoang Thuy Linh: Vietnamese Concert Film”; and a Cambodian horror film named “Beheading.

Alice Nguyen, from Skyline Media’s distribution team, expressed her joy about collaborating with EEF and Infinity Entertainment. This partnership aims to present ‘The Real Sister’ to audiences in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, regions where Vietnamese cinema is experiencing growing popularity. Alice emphasized that the film’s domestic success serves as a strong indication of the potential for Vietnamese films on an international platform.
