Sigourney Weaver Says Baby Yoda Is the Reason ‘Why I Did’ ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’: ‘He’s a Little Badass’

Sigourney Weaver explains that it was because of Grogu, or Baby Yoda, that she agreed to appear in the new “Star Wars” hit, “The Mandalorian and Grogu.

It was the chance to work with young Grogu that made me take on this project, as I believe. He’s quite a tough character, and it will be exciting for fans to see what Grogu has been up to since he’s grown a bit more now and can do things we might not have expected based on the series.

Despite limited information about her character revealed in May, Weaver hinted, “I portray an intriguing figure who holds a position of power. In the storyline, I send The Mandalorian on a perilous mission to the Outer Rim, a place notorious for its danger and criminal activity.

In January 2024, Lucasfilm presented a new Disney+ series spinoff featuring Pedro Pascal portraying “The Mandalorian,” our famous bounty hunter, alongside his lovable companion Grogu. The series is overseen by Jon Favreau as both director and producer, collaborating with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and “Ahsoka” creator Dave Filoni on production.

Favreau expressed enthusiasm when speaking about the upcoming movie, stating, ‘I’ve enjoyed crafting tales within the elaborate universe George Lucas designed.’ It’s thrilling for me to imagine sharing the adventures of the Mandalorian and his trainee Grogu on the big screen.

Besides Pascal and Weaver, another significant character has been unveiled – Jeremy Allen White, taking on the role of the son of the infamous “Star Wars” villain, Jabba the Hutt.
