‘The Floor’ Host Rob Lowe on Landing Sunday’s Post-Super Bowl Slot: ‘Single Most Valuable Piece of Real Estate in the Media Business’

This week is proving to be quite significant for Rob Lowe on Fox. He recently concluded his five-season stint as the lead in “9-1-1: Lone Star” with a thrilling series finale, and this Sunday, he begins a new chapter by debuting as the host of the competition series “The Floor.

The current job isn’t as prestigious as the previous one, but it’s gaining significant attention due to the fact that the improvised series, now starting its third season, is airing during the highly sought-after time slot following the Super Bowl. This is making Lowe extremely honored and excited.

It’s hard to believe! I found myself struggling to explain this concept to some friends who aren’t familiar with the industry. It’s not that easy, you see — this particular piece of real estate in the media business is absolutely priceless,” Lowe shared with EbMaster. “In other words, it’s another sign of how well-received the show has been. This show is so addicting, once people give it a try, they can’t get enough.

In the creation of John de Mol, a renowned unscripted producer (“Big Brother,” “Deal or No Deal,” “The Voice”), there’s an exciting competition called “The Floor.” This game involves 100 contestants standing on a large, interactive LED game floor divided into 100 squares, each representing diverse trivia categories. The game starts with a randomly chosen competitor challenging a neighboring player in a trivia quiz based on the chosen category of the latter. The victor seizes the loser’s square and strengthens their position on the floor, while the vanquished departs the game. The contestant who eventually controls all 100 squares is declared the winner.

Lowe finds it no surprise that “The Floor” was scheduled to perform following the Super Bowl LIX match between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, as he sees this as evidence of the increasing difficulty in discovering a program that can captivate a broad viewership.

This is a unique kind of program that appeals to a wide range of audiences – from 10-year-olds to grandparents, college students, rural and urban dwellers alike,” Lowe explained. “It’s equally addictive for everyone, and finding content that everyone enjoys is becoming increasingly rare. This show is about to reach millions more viewers, which is truly exciting.
