It’s packed with plenty of opportunities to upgrade my gear and climb the ranks over the upcoming weeks through a variety of engaging activities. However, figuring out how to get rewards from both the Shaping Slab and the Tome of Want can seem a tad confusing at first. To help fellow Guardians like me, here’s a breakdown of how to collect rewards from these vendors in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy, as well as how to obtain and make use of a fresh material called Essence of Desire. How to use the Shaping Slab

As a gamer, I stumbled upon the Resolve Shaping Slab hidden in Eris Morn’s humble abode, nestled within the HELM. This colossal stone structure resembling an ancient obelisk serves as the seasonal merchant for Heresy this round. Here, I exchange my Engrams for the season, claim my rewards, and boost my reputation with this vendor – all under its imposing presence.

The distinctive attributes of this provider are the Runic Boost and the Mysterium. The Runic Boost essentially offers players an upgrade path, which they can access using Sigil Fragments obtained from Nether engagements. These fragments grant extra perks within Heresy activities, such as additional healing possibilities, increased Sigil Fragment drops, and enhanced damage capacity. The strength of the Shaping Slab determines the maximum power of runes that can be inserted into these enhancements, with every two reputation levels elevating its potential. Consequently, players with higher levels at the Shaping Slab can equip more Runic Enhancements. During a Nether journey, these enhancements are modifiable at any moment. To do so, simply find the green glowing skull icon and interact with it to swap out different Runic Enhancements.

Players can boost their skills indefinitely while navigating the Dreadnought and the Nether, thanks to the Mysterium. These enhancements are permanent improvements derived from collected Boons during Nether expeditions. Once you’ve accumulated multiple types of Boons, you’ll encounter an opportunity to activate the Mysterium upgrade.

How to use the Tome of Want

Obtaining the Book of Desire happens after finishing the initial quest for Episode Heresy and visiting Eris Morn’s residence for the first time. Overhearing a conversation between Sloane and Eris Morn, interact with the Path of Resolve Shaping Stone. Once you reach level 2 with the Shaping Stone, you can buy the Book of Desire directly from it.

At the uppermost level, you’ll find the Tomes Inscriptions. These enhancements instantly impact players in the Nether, applying long-term effects throughout a Nether journey. As you use the Tome more and perform Rituals, each Inscription becomes accessible by accumulating experience.

To select items from the Tome of Desire, first, opt for a section under the Ritual Rites row and then insert a Scripture into the initial space. The chosen Scripture will determine the loot for the upcoming Nether run. For more specific rewards, such as a particular weapon or the Amorphous Scripture of Overwhelming Power, place another Scripture in the second slot. This rare Scripture can be used to potentially gain any of the following:

  • Weapon Scriptures in the first slot will provide one Ascendant Alloy.
  • Armor Scriptures in the first slot will provide one Ascendant Shard.
  • Currency Scriptures in the first slot will provide one Exotic Engram.

How to get and use Essence of Desire

In the third section of the Book of Desire, players can invest two Essence of Wish, which they earn by handing over bundles of 10 Transformed Essence from successfully completed trips to the Nether, at Eris’ altar in her apartment, to receive three seasonal rewards once a Nether activity is finished. Performing this ritual sets off loot drops following the next trip through the Nether.
