Civilization 7 Quality-Of-Life Fixes Are Inbound, Starting With Its UI

Prior to the complete launch on February 11, the creators of Civilization VII, Firaxis, have shared their strategy for enhancing the game through post-launch updates and additional features. So far, early reviews for Civilization VII have been varied, while feedback from the Steam community has pointed out certain aspects that require attention.

In an update for developers, Firaxis announced that they are concentrating on enhancing the user interface for a better user experience. They mentioned that they are examining ways to make UI interactions clearer, enhance map legibility, refine formatting, and other similar aspects, as stated in their blog post. They assured their users that they are dedicated to getting this right and will provide further updates as soon as possible.

Firaxis plans to incorporate several community-suggested features in upcoming updates, which will be provided at no cost. The exact release schedule is still under consideration, but Civilization VII players should anticipate these features being rolled out eventually.

  • Adding Teams to multiplayer games so that you can play cooperatively
  • Allowing full player counts in multiplayer in all three Ages through refinements to the Distant Lands system
  • Allowing you to pick your starting and ending Age to allow for single- or double-Age games
  • Providing a wider variety of map types
  • Enabling city and religion names to be customized
  • Hotseat multiplayer

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the studio is planning to roll out Update 1.1.0 in March! This update promises UI enhancements for a smoother experience, continued AI balance refinements, modifications to diplomacy and crisis mechanics, and more bug squashes. Currently, Civilization VII is accessible through early access on PC, but get ready because it’s also making its way onto PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Switch!

As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to hear that Civ VII might just land on Switch 2 through backward compatibility, which is already exciting news! Add to that the whispers about the upgraded Joy-Con controllers potentially offering mouse-like functionality, and it’s hard not to be intrigued. Dennis Shirk, the executive producer of Civ VII, seems to share my sentiment, as he finds this feature quite captivating too.
