Next week, NASA is set to broadcast its inaugural live Twitch stream directly from the International Space Station (ISS). This exciting news was recently posted on their official social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, with a few insights into what spectators might witness during the stream.
Brittany Brown, head of NASA’s Office of Communications Digital and Technology Division, announced that the Twitch event from space marked the beginning of many such events. She had engaged with digital creators during TwitchCon, understanding their preference for streams tailored to their communities. Alongside our spacewalks, launches, and landings, we plan to host more exclusive Twitch streams like this one. NASA utilizes various digital platforms, including Twitch, to captivate new audiences and ignite their interest in everything space-related.
Experience the thrill of space live! Tune in to our inaugural Twitch broadcast straight from the Space Station on February 12, for a chance to interact with @Astro_Pettit and learn about life and work in orbit.
We’ll also be hosting @DominickMatthew, fresh back from his time living on the station.

The event itself is scheduled to occur on the International Space Station (ISS), approximately 250 miles above Earth’s surface. This unique gathering will include live appearances from astronauts Don Pettit (currently residing on the ISS) and Matt Dominick (recently back on Earth following NASA’s Crew-8 mission). During this space-bound dialogue, they will cover various aspects of life aboard the ISS and the ongoing microgravity experiments. Furthermore, they will emphasize opportunities for Twitch users to interact with NASA, such as citizen science projects and educational programs in science, technology, engineering, and math that aim to inspire the next generation, often referred to as the Artemis Generation.
The term “Artemis Generation” signifies the group of space explorers who are set to journey to the Moon under NASA’s Artemis Space Program.
According to the Artemis Program’s official site, NASA plans to work alongside commercial and global partners to set up a permanent base on the Moon for the long term. This historic endeavor aims to be the first to land a woman, a person of color, and an international partner astronaut on the Moon. Utilizing groundbreaking technologies, this mission intends to investigate more of the lunar landscape than ever before.
For the very first time, NASA is planning to host a live stream on their Twitch channel directly from the International Space Station. This unique event marks a new milestone as it’s the first NASA activity tailored exclusively for their Twitch platform from the ISS.
On Wednesday, the 12th of February, the event is scheduled to begin on NASA’s Twitch channel at 8:45 AM Pacific Time or 11:45 AM Eastern Time.
