Warning: Spoilers for season three of The Traitors through last week’s sixth episode.
Has the group known as “The Traitors” in “The Traitors” series ever been in such a dire state? Despite numerous near-misses, slip-ups, and schemes backfiring, nothing has appeared as precarious as their current predicament as we edge towards the midpoint of season three. Consider them for induction into the Reality TV Hall of Fame under the category of “The Worst Team Ever Assembled.
Following Rob’s shocking act of treachery against Bob the Drag Queen, the Traitors found themselves in a bind, needing to strategize effectively and carry out their plan seamlessly within the castle walls. However, they didn’t exactly do that. While Rob was meticulously concealing his actions, Danielle and Carolyn engaged in a game of cat and mouse, casually mentioning each other’s names throughout Alan’s castle. Derrick Levasseur presented a compelling case against Rob at the round table, causing him to sweat, but instead of supporting their fellow Traitor, Carolyn declared open war on Danielle by accusing her at the round table when no one suspected it. (Aside: Why isn’t anyone suspecting Danielle?) Danielle seized her chance and voted for Boston Rob, who managed to redirect the vote towards Wes Bergmann, escape banishment, and return to the turret to nurse his wounds. But despite her efforts, Danielle and Carolyn are still at odds, and Derrick is still on the hunt, spending what he believes is his final night sowing seeds of doubt among all of Rob’s allies.
It’s a mess, man. It’s a catastrophe.
Absolutely, there’s still a lot of contest left! We invited our expert Traitors enthusiasts to discuss the strategies used so far, offer their top suggestions for future moves, and predict how the game might unfold from this point onward.
Is it possible for the Traitors to get back on the same page, or should they just go after each other?
Joe Reid: I’m unsure if aligning our strategies is crucial given their low-impact murders. If they manage to engage in conflicts without revealing themselves, then indeed, we should confront them (“attack” in your words). However, that’s a significant ‘if’.
Nicholas Quah expresses his frustration by saying: It’s simply not feasible. May the randomness prevail. Frankly, I doubt anyone is inspired enough to engage in meaningful dialogue with one another, and certainly not with Danielle!
It might be conceivable for two betrayers to reconcile and work together again, however, bringing together all three of them seems quite unlikely.
Nic Juarez suggests that it’s unlikely Danielle will return, and he believes that if Rob and Carolyn choose to work together, they might find common ground in dealing with Danielle’s absence.
In my humble opinion, these characters seem to be operating on different wavelengths, almost like Spider-Man in a meme, pointing haphazardly around a conference table. They don’t appear to share the same objectives or strategies, which can make for an intriguing dynamic, but may also lead to some confusing moments in the narrative.
Anne Clark suggests that if Carolyn and Danielle fail to remove Rob from the situation, they’re in trouble. However, if they can see an opportunity to do so, it might just save them!
NJ: Anne, do you think it’s possible for Carolyn and Danielle to work together to get out Rob?
AC: I believe in miracles, yes.
NQ: I don’t see how Carolyn would want to cooperate at this point!
Who will come out on top in Danielle vs. Carolyn: Dawn of Justice?
It seems to me that they should both understand that Rob is detrimental to both of them. If Carolyn is prepared to momentarily set aside her disagreements, I believe they could manage to get rid of him. And if things go as planned, she can certainly rekindle their dispute later on.
Rebecca Alter’s suggestion can be rephrased as follows: “It would be strategic for everyone to unite against Rob. The discussion at the last meeting pointed towards a possible showdown between Wes and Rob. It seems clear that Rob is using deceitful tactics. If you all vote out Wes and he turns out to be trustworthy, we can confirm beyond doubt that Rob is untrustworthy. They should emphasize this strongly.
AC: YES.
In my opinion, Carolyn is willing to forgive her allies, but not Danielle. From what I see, it seems like there’s no going back between them now since Danielle attacked her.
RA: I would catch a grenade for Carolyn.
In simpler terms, using Rob’s preferred term, there’s a hint of suspicion towards Danielle, and this isn’t a new development. On the other hand, Carolyn remains relatively innocent.
At the moment, while they’re both unpredictable team members, Carolyn appears to have a larger number of supporters within the castle.
Currently, the best chance for Rob lies in Carolyn and Danielle confronting each other in a fierce contest. It would be prudent for them to eliminate Rob initially before focusing on one another. In this scenario, Carolyn holds an advantage as she has identified fewer individuals, whereas Danielle’s efforts to rally votes may come across as insincere, the harder she tries.
Does Derrick survive the night? If not, who should the Traitors murder?
Derrick, regrettably, clearly explained why he might be the next suspect in the murder case: Rob can’t escape scrutiny by staying away from Derrick because suspicion will still linger. His main defense is to claim he’s being set up, which allows him to eliminate Derrick regardless. Danielle and Carolyn are so preoccupied with their feud that they can’t build a case for anyone else. I’m not sure who else could plausibly be involved at this point.
Absolutely, I believe Rob is going to murder him, and then exploit the trust they’ve established to assert falsely that he’s being set up. Dylan, moved by emotion, is likely to accept this claim.
It seems you concur, but the desperate action might be to eliminate Dylan and falsely accuse Derrick of treachery, suggesting he’s targeting Rob’s associates.
As a passionate cinephile, I lean towards the plot twist where Rob sets up Derrick, but if the Faithful ultimately exile Derrick, the doubts will inevitably return to Rob, since it’s widely believed that among the latest recruits, one might be a Traitor. Thus, my suggestion is to eliminate Derrick immediately and then unravel the mystery from there.
Sure thing!
Yes, he needs to subtly implicate Derrick in something to divert attention away from himself and avoid being exposed as a Faithful. At the same time, he should keep Derrick around for a while so that his true identity doesn’t get revealed prematurely. And ideally, the conflict between Danielle and Carolyn will dominate the spotlight, just as Joe suggested earlier.
AL: It doesn’t matter if Derrick or Rob go first, I find it delightful that the guys who weren’t fond of the Housewives are now self-destructing, and it’s all thanks to a casual remark from Bob the Drag Queen.
It seems that everyone participating in this show should aim to disassociate themselves promptly from the label of being a well-known game player, considering the way the previous season concluded.
NQ: I mean, is there a possibility they can’t come to an agreement, and there’s no kill?
Suggestion: It might be interesting if Alan keeps them confined within the tower until they reach a conclusion. An intriguing twist could be that if they fail to make a decision, one of them is chosen at random and meets an untimely end.
NQ: TIME BOMB!
How does Rob survive the next round table?
AC: Four words: Dylan Efron’s Sweet Face.
FH: By escalating the drama between Carolyn and Danielle.
In Collaboration: Working together with Carolyn and Brittany might be the key strategy for dealing with Danielle. If it turns out that Brittany somehow contributes to Danielle’s departure once more, it would certainly bring a good dose of humor into the situation.
The problem isn’t making it through the upcoming meeting. I believe there’s a feasible method to set up a Derrick as the fall guy. However, the question lies beyond that: if he can successfully kill Derrick and shift the blame onto another Traitor, that could be a potential solution…
He’s planning to stir up a conflict between Danielle and Carolyn, aiming to reveal them as traitors. However, given that Wes has already exposed Rob as a Traitor, I’m not sure this plan will be effective. Another strategy he could have used was to propose to Derrick, Wes, and possibly Dylan that they keep a known Traitor among them until the end for their own advantage in the game. But, as Genevieve suggested, Bob TDQ seems to have created a rift between the ‘cage boys’ (Derrick, Wes, and Rob), making it difficult for all three of them to collaborate and survive together.
NJ: Joe, who has been Rob’s greatest foe? Russell or Bob TDQ?
Great query!
“Russell eliminated Rob from the competition, but Rob might argue that it was actually Tyson who made the mistake. In essence, Bob put pressure on Rob to reveal his strategy.
How are we feeling about the Bambis Alliance?
AL: Chrishell needs to start making the right decisions or risk having Tom expelled out of anger. I strongly support Bambi, but they need to make one strategic move to keep things going. Gabby is clearly a standout and would be perfect for hosting future Traitors U.S. reunions instead of Andy Cohen, who seems uninterested.
As a follower, I admire the Bambi Alliance’s dedication to turning their alliance into a social hub rather than a powerful voting group. However, I believe it’s time for them to shift gears and function as a voting bloc effectively. Ideally, Gabby would be the one to spearhead this change, rather than Chrishell leading the way.
NJ: More than anything, I hope they’re having fun.
FH: What Nic said. How I feel about the Bambis Alliance is 🙂
NQ: Agreed with all of the above. Also, maybe useful allies for Carolyn?
It’s hard for me, a Boston Rob supporter, to admit this, but if the Bambis were to become more strategic and focus on eliminating Rob, there’s a chance they could flip their game around. I only hope that it is them who manage to take him out of the competition.
AL: It appears that Rob might find it beneficial to have Chrishell as an ally, given her natural affinity towards him. (Neutral)
Jasmine Vojdani: Indeed, it’s high time for Gabby to connect Danielle’s unpredictable actions with the fact that she overheard her voice in the wine cellar, and Chrishell should cease taking orders from Rob.
As a fellow movie lover, I can deeply empathize with them. If I were in their shoes, I’d undoubtedly make spending time with my friends a top priority.
AL: Additionally, it would be great if Chrishell could admit that, being an alumna of “All My Children,” she has some insights into murders in grand mansions. How about this: “This situation brings back memories of when my TV mother Janet was involved in a series of crimes, and I ended up being falsely accused.
Danielle wants to recruit new Traitors — but will there be new Traitors? If so, who are we eying for the job?
FH: Sandoval!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’d be the funniest thing having Carolyn and Sandoval in that tower by themselves! Can you just imagine his hilarious responses to breakfast, all while breaking out in a sweat?
NQ: I believe other versions of Traitors had up to two recruits, so it’s possible!
AL: I’d be quite disappointed if there are no more recruitments. Seeing a character transform from Loyalist to Betrayer is one of the best aspects of this series, and without new recruits, we won’t experience that thrill at all. Let’s bring in Dolores and witness her rebirth. I also believe we might be heading towards a spree of Traitor expulsions, so the creators may not have much room for maneuver.
Initially, I hoped for Chrishell to play a traitorous role this season, given the possibility that she might face excessive scrutiny. The idea of Rob and Chrishell leading the game is intriguing.
It seems like an opportune moment for Dolores to assume the role of Traitor, as the “A Housewife Must Be a Traitor” narrative has lost traction since their exile, and Sandoval’s attempt to revive it during the roundtable discussion was met with such a strong rebuke that it might deter others from embracing this theory, as it would imply conceding that Sandoval is correct.
Any final predictions for this week’s episode and/or the rest of the season?
FH: I believe we’re seeing a Traitor go home this week and maybe also next week.
JR: Whomever the Traitors recruit (if they indeed do recruit) will end up winning the season.
NQ: I truly believe Carolyn has the best shot of winning the whole thing.
AL: I’m deeply concerned that Rob might create enough turmoil to reach the finale, where he may tragically end the life of the innocent and admirable Dylan Efron in a scene that will undoubtedly tug at our heartstrings.
