‘For All Mankind’ Spinoff ‘Star City’ Casts Anna Maxwell Martin

Actress Anna Maxwell Martin has joined the cast of the “For All Mankind” spinoff titled “Star City,” according to our latest information.

Martin has now been added to the already declared ensemble, including Rhys Ifans, for the alternate history drama, a project that was first unveiled back in April 2024.

In an exciting twist, I’ve learned that the upcoming series will delve into an alternate tale of the space race, much like “For All Mankind.” However, instead of focusing on the American narrative, we’ll be exploring this cosmic competition from the unique vantage point of the Soviet Union.

The show’s official summary presents it as a “fast-paced, suspenseful drama” that delves into an alternate version of the space race history. The focus is on the pivotal instance when the Soviet Union achieved the unprecedented feat of putting a man on the moon first. However, this narrative unfolds from the perspective within the Iron Curtain, offering insights into the lives of cosmonauts, engineers, and intelligence agents operating in the Soviet space program. The story also highlights the daring risks they all took to advance human progress.

Martin takes on the role of Lyudmilla, who serves as the chief of the KGB monitoring division in Star City.

Martin has won the BAFTA TV Award twice – first in 2006 for her role in “Bleak House” and then in 2009 for “Poppy Shakespeare,” both times in the ‘Best Actress’ category. Since then, she has been nominated for “South Riding” and “Motherland.” Her other notable television roles include those in “North and South,” “Ludwig,” “White Girl,” and “Until I Kill You.” In film, she has appeared in productions such as “Philomena” and “Becoming Jane.

She is repped by United Agents and Felker Toczek.

The series titled “Star City” is brought to us by the creators Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi, who are behind “For All Mankind”. In this production, Wolpert and Nedivi take on the roles of showrunners and executive producers. Meanwhile, Moore continues as an executive producer under his Tall Ship Productions label, with Maril Davis also contributing from this banner. Steve Oster and Andrew Chambliss are additional executive producers. The studio responsible for this production is Sony Pictures Television.
