In response to an ongoing legal dispute initiated by him last year, President Donald Trump has urged CBS to discontinue their long-standing news magazine show, “60 Minutes.” This is the most recent action taken in this conflict with the program.
Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit against “60 Minutes” in the Northern District of Texas federal court back in November, claiming that they deceived voters by broadcasting two distinct edits of comments made during an interview with Kamala Harris, who was then his presidential rival. Later on, CBS requested to dismiss the case in a subsequent filing.
Trump accused CBS and 60 Minutes of committing a historic level of election fraud by manipulating an interview with Kamala Harris. He claims they removed unfavorable responses and replaced them with more favorable ones, altering the election results significantly. This, he argues, is not just interference but outright fraud. Trump demands that CBS lose its broadcasting license, the staff at 60 Minutes be dismissed, and the program shut down. With a recent scandal involving USAID paying large sums to media outlets like Politico emerging, Trump questions whether CBS was paid for this alleged fraud. He suggests this could be one of the biggest scandals in broadcasting history.
Of course, CBS does not have a license. Those are granted to local statioins.
