Resident Evil Re:Verse To Be Removed From Digital Stores In March, Services End In June 2025

At the conclusion of the Capcom Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase event, the Japanese developer and publisher shared some news regarding the Resident Evil series. To be precise, this concerns Resident Evil Re:Verse, a multiplayer “survival revenge battle” game that they launched over a year following the release of Resident Evil Village.

After its initial launch, Re:Verse was later included with the regular version of Village across PlayStation, Xbox, PC (Steam) platforms. However, it’s unfortunate to announce that this multiplayer game is closing down as a recent statement from its Japanese developer and publisher revealed. The notice also provided additional details in its FAQ section about the impending shutdown within weeks.

Sadly, we must inform you that as of June 29, 2025, service and support for Resident Evil Re:Verse will no longer be available. We want to extend our gratitude to all the players who have been part of this journey over the past few years! For further details about the shutdown and a timeline, please check the provided link.

The game titled “Resident Evil Re:Verse” debuted on October 28th, 2022, and since then has undergone numerous updates with additions like costume packs, new maps, characters (survivors and creatures), and other elements, as per a predefined plan that was shared on their official platforms. The game was designed to offer competitive deathmatch-style gameplay, but due to the limited content unveiled in the roadmap, it didn’t sit well with dedicated fans of the Resident Evil series.

As a die-hard gamer, I was thrilled to hear Capcom’s recent announcement about Resident Evil Re:Verse, developed as a celebration for the Resident Evil series’ 25th anniversary. However, they also shared that this marks a significant shift in the series’ direction. They felt that the game has successfully fulfilled its initial purpose, so on March 3rd, 2025 at 4 pm UTC, Resident Evil Re:Verse, along with nine content packs including the Premium Pass, will be taken down from all digital storefronts.

The multiplayer game can still be played up until 30th June 2025 at 6:59 pm UTC when it gets deactivated and services discontinued. On that same date, Resident Evil Re:Verse will no longer come as a part of the standard edition of Resident Evil Village. Capcom has specified that players must utilize their RP Boosters by this date, as they will become invalid once the game’s services have ended. The content included in the Premium Pass also follows the same rule.
