Federation Studios Teams With Alessandro Usai to Launch New Italian Outfit No Name Entertainment (EXCLUSIVE)

The transnational media company, Federation Studios (“The Bureau”), has partnered with well-known Italian producer, Alessandro Usai, to establish a fresh film and television production house in Italy, named No Name Entertainment.

In the photo, you see Usai, currently the head of ANICA, Italy’s film association. Over the last 15 years, he has been the driving force behind Colorado Film Production, a company that has seen considerable commercial success. One of its recent triumphs includes the young adult romantic drama “The Tearsmith.” Last year, this production made history as the first Netflix Italy original to take the top spot on their global movie chart in the non-English language category.

In the upcoming Rome-based collaboration between Usai and Federation, Pier Paolo Luciani – a veteran collaborator with a background as COO of Colorado Film and previously head of production at Warner Bros. Italy – will also be involved. He has been designated as the new COO and partner without a specific title.

Or simply:

In the upcoming Rome-based venture between Usai and Federation, Pier Paolo Luciani – formerly COO of Colorado Film and head of production at Warner Bros. Italy – will also join, having been appointed as the new COO and partner without a specific title.

The founders of the Federation, Pascal Breton, Lionel Uzan, and Marco Chimenz, are joining forces with Usai on a project called No Name. This group, which supervises 35 production companies based in cities like Paris, Los Angeles, Rome, Madrid, London, Berlin, Cologne, and Tel Aviv, is currently in negotiations with potential American partners to sell a substantial portion of their business and accelerate their expansion.

Personally, I’m excited about our partnership with No Name not just because we highly regard Usai and Luciani, but it also underscores the fact that Italy is a thriving creative melting pot brimming with talents, stories, traditions, and innovative spirit. As Federation expands globally, our ambition is to grow right here in Italy as well.

After Nicola and Marco de Angelis’s Fabula Pictures, an Italian production company recognized for creating shows like “Baby” and “Brigands: The Quest for Gold,” became part of the Federation in 2018, another Italian company is on track to become the Federation’s second Italian firm.

Beyond “The Tearsmith,” Usai and Luciani have made a significant impact at Colorado with their diverse portfolio. This includes the successful comedy series “Me Contro Te,” starring two popular Sicilian YouTube personalities; the box office hit “La Peggior Settimana della Mia Vita”; the theatrical production “Ten Days Without Mom”; and the directorial debut of bestselling Italian mystery author Donato Carrisi, titled “The Girl in the Fog.” Prior to Colorado, Usai was involved in the production of Luca Guadagnino’s film “I Am Love,” featuring Tilda Swinton.

In an interview with EbMaster, Usai shared his vision for No Name: they aim to kick off by creating two to three feature films and a significant television series. He emphasized that during this early stage, he’s not overly concerned about the scale of their projects. As far as genres go, No Name plans to stick with comedy while also diving into action, thriller, and horror productions, all made possible through co-productions and the advantages of being part of a multinational studio across Europe.

For the time being, Usai and Chimenz are choosing to keep secret the No Name projects they’re currently working on. However, they hinted at potential collaborations involving intellectual properties owned by The Federation.
