Olivia Holt Dreams of Playing Britney Spears in Upcoming Biopic

As soon as the news broke that Jon M. Chu would take on creating a Britney Spears biopic for Universal following their acquisition of her memoir’s rights, there was an instant surge of fan suggestions on social media about who should portray the famous pop star.

Among those aspiring for something is Olivia Holt, similar to Britney. At the age of 27, Holt was once a star on Disney. Besides being an actress, she’s also a singer who put out her first EP titled “Olivia” in 2016.

I met up with Holt on Tuesday evening during a private showing of her latest horror-comedy, “Heart Eyes.” I asked her about the possibility of her playing Spears. The movie, produced by Marc Platt of “Wicked” fame, is based on Spears’ 2023 memoir titled “The Woman in Me.”

On Tuesday night, I ran into Holt at a private screening for her new horror-comedy, “Heart Eyes.” I asked her about the prospect of her taking on the role of Spears. The film, produced by Marc Platt and inspired by Spears’ 2023 memoir titled “The Woman in Me,” was discussed.

Both versions maintain the original meaning while being more natural and easy to read.

Holt expresses her excitement at the possibility of portraying Britney, sharing that as of now, she hasn’t received any contact from Chu.” (or)
“Holt is thrilled about potentially playing Britney, but she clarifies that she has not yet had contact with Chu.

She expresses, “I’m incredibly thankful to even be considered among such esteemed individuals and extraordinary talents who are also contenders for this role. Merely thinking about being thought of for portraying something so legendary as this character, is nothing short of a wish come true.

Some other well-liked fan suggestions for the role are Florence Pugh, Sabrina Carpenter, Millie Bobby Brown, Sydney Sweeney, Addison Rae, Elle Fanning, and Tate McRae.

Holt demonstrated her knowledge of Britney Spears’ music when she mentioned her preferred tunes from the “Slave 4 U” artist. “I could delve into the past and we could revisit ‘I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.’ That’s one of my favorites,” Holt stated. “However, I also admire the ‘Circus’ period. Britney has so many different phases in her career. It’s difficult to pick just one!

Josh Ruben directs the horror comedy ‘Heart Eyes,’ where two workmates, Holt and Mason Gooding, find themselves in a struggle to stay alive when they’re wrongly identified as a romantic duo by a murderer active on Valentine’s Day.

Gooding describes it as a blend between horror and romance, which seems fitting to him. Horror enthusiasts will appreciate it, while those surprised by its romantic-comedy elements will find something intriguing as well.

Could the film be the start of a new franchise?

Gooding affirms, ‘Indeed, there will be a second and third installment. While I’m not certain they’ve officially announced it yet, let me clarify that now – it’s a complete series. At this point, I’m essentially trapping them in a corner because I would continue producing these for the remainder of my career.’

“Heart Eyes” debuts in theaters Friday.
