Megan Thee Stallion, Psy to Star in K-Pop Competition Series for Apple

According to our sources, Apple TV+ is planning a new K-pop competition show featuring PSY from “Gangnam Style” and Megan Thee Stallion as the main stars.

KPopped” – This series consists of eight episodes. In each episode, well-known artists from the West will reinterpret one of their most popular songs, collaborating with leading K-pop stars to produce breathtaking performance battles. The live audience in Seoul determines the winner of the best newly created K-pop track.

Megan Thee Stallion will not only perform her popular song “Savage” on the show, but she’ll also serve as an executive producer. Joining her in this role are Lionel Richie, Moira Ross, Miky Lee, Greg Foster, Harry H.K. Shin, and Jake Hong, with Kiwoong Kim from CJ ENM Co., Ltd. Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, David Tibballs also serve as executive producers for Eureka Productions, a Fremantle company, alongside Bruce Eskowitz.

One of Apple’s rare forays into the realm of unscripted competition shows is about to take place, following their past ventures into this area via streaming platforms. Previously, they aired “My Kind of Country,” a series created by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves that centered around country music. This show ran its sole season in 2023. Additionally, Apple broadcasted the docuseries “K-Pop Idols” in 2024.

Before the debut of Apple TV+, Apple Music had previously produced a show called “Planet of the Apps” for one season. This marked Apple’s initial venture into original programming. The series revolved around individuals presenting their app ideas to a panel of judges, which consisted of Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, and will.i.am.
