As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the international distribution rights for the gripping thriller “Diamond Shitter,” starring Raffey Cassidy, Eva Green, Ben Whishaw, and Alessandro Nivola, have been acquired by Beta Cinema. At the upcoming European Film Market, they’ll kick off pre-sales, while UTA Independent Film Group will handle the North American rights. Can’t wait to see this masterpiece on the big screen!
The plot of the movie takes place amidst the wealthy expatriate society residing in Geneva, and it’s during this setting that the intern Nollaig sets off a chilling transformation within her host family’s opulent household. She secretly makes off with their valuable diamonds, incorporating them into her system, which ultimately exposes the hidden truths lurking beneath their dazzling wealth.
The movie story happens among the rich expats in Geneva. An intern named Nollaig causes trouble in a wealthy family’s luxurious home by stealing their diamonds and keeping them, revealing secrets that were hidden behind their glamorous lifestyle.
Campbell-Hughes, who first directed “It Is in Us All,” expressed that during times when emotions are drained, we yearn for the elegance of justice. This film serves as a raw, intense scream, offering a thrilling journey through the heart-wrenching vulnerability of the human experience. My intention is to restore hope and reconsider the essence of value and significance in our fast-paced world.
Beta Cinema’s Thorsten Ritter stated that “Diamond Shitter,” directed by Antonia Campbell-Hughes, is a daring, highly relevant, fast-moving thriller. It skillfully incorporates elements of the body-horror genre while going beyond them. The director’s vision is evident throughout the script. This is an outstanding piece of work from a skilled filmmaker, yet it is designed for a wide audience who are familiar with genre conventions.
Actress Campbell-Hughes is primarily recognized for her portrayal of Natascha Kampusch in the biopic “3096 Days” directed by Sherry Hormann and Michael Ballhaus, released in 2013. She has also starred in prominent roles such as those in Jane Campion’s film “Bright Star” (2009), the Cannes premiere “The Other Side of Sleep” (2011), the BAFTA-winning production “Kelly + Victor” (2012), the Netflix series “Black Doves,” and the lead role in the psychological thriller “Cordelia” (2019).
Cassidy portrayed the mysterious character Nollaig, featuring in Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” (2017) and Brady Corbet’s “Vox Lux” (2018), and can also be seen in Corbet’s upcoming film, “The Brutalist.
In the role of Helen, Nollaig’s host mother, is the BAFTA-winning actress Eva Green. She is recognized for her portrayal of Vesper Lynd in “Casino Royale” (2006), and has also given standout performances as the lead in “Three Musketeers” (2023) and “Proxima” (2019).
Whishaw has been selected to play Nigel, Nollaig’s mentor, while Alessandro Nivola, who recently starred in “The Room Next Door” and “The Brutalist” by Almodovar, has been cast as the character David, portraying the role of the host father.
