In April, Nintendo has officially announced the specific timing for their upcoming Nintendo Direct event. This event was initially teased when Nintendo unveiled their next-gen console, the Switch 2, last month with a trailer. Although Nintendo has disclosed the name and appearance of the system, there are still many details missing such as its release date, price, and launch titles. The April Direct is expected to provide these crucial details.

It’s clear that Switch 2 will be able to play Switch games, although there may be some limitations. For instance, Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has been demonstrated as a game compatible with both consoles. In contrast to the original Switch, where Joy-Cons slide onto the tablet with rails, the ones for Switch 2 attach via a magnetic system and are larger in size. Furthermore, Nintendo is hinting at the development of a new Mario Kart game specifically for this updated system.

This week, the CEO of EA, Andrew Wilson, subtly suggested that both Madden NFL and EA Sports FC might be coming to the anticipated Switch 2. These games join a growing list of potential titles for the Switch 2, which includes Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and more. However, it remains uncertain if popular first-party games from the original Switch like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will also be available on the Switch 2.

In addition to the Nintendo Direct broadcast, Nintendo is organizing hands-on events for the Switch 2 in various cities globally. These events kick off in early April, with stops in cities such as New York City and Paris, followed by Amsterdam and Seoul in May.
