The developers at THQ Nordic and Bugbear Entertainment have officially announced that the next installment of their highly-destructive racing game, Wreckfest 2, will make its debut in early access on March 20th. We also have a clear understanding of what Wreckfest 2 will initially offer when it becomes available for early play and what additional features we can expect to see added over time.
Initially, Wreckfest was one of the early-access games that thrived, gaining fame for its unique focus on destruction. It distinguished itself by having advanced damage models that allowed vehicles to suffer extensive damage beyond what’s common in regular racing games. Now, approximately a decade later, Bugbear and THQ Nordic are repeating this process with Wreckfest’s sequel, enhancing the experience with an upgraded physics engine that provides even more intricate damage simulations for its cars.
In the preview trailer for Wreckfest 2, you can observe the intense wrecking action that characterizes the gameplay. The racers in this junkyard setting collide and crash into one another as they race at high speeds. It appears that there will be three main modes offered when Wreckfest 2 is launched: Racing, Derby, and Multiplayer. Bugbear Entertainment has hinted at several improvements coming to the game beyond just creating new tracks and car customization options.
During the pre-release stage, the game Wreckfest 2 will undergo a revamped career mode that will be customized based on your playstyle in Wreckfest 2. Additionally, Challenges, mini-scenarios with a high score where players can operate unusual vehicles, and Tournaments will be introduced to the game during this period. Furthermore, mod support, skill-based matchmaking, queue systems for servers, and the option to share your vehicle designs with other players will become available as well, all within Wreckfest 2’s pre-release phase.
As an eager enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that starting March 20, I’ll be diving into the world of Wreckfest 2, available first on Steam Early Access! Excitingly, this high-octane racing experience will eventually roar onto PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as well. Can’t wait to hit the track!
