This month, A24 will showcase “Eddington,” the eagerly-awaited contemporary Western thriller directed by Ari Aster and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler, at the European Film Market in Berlin – according to our information from EbMaster.
The movie, featuring Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, and Clifton Collins Jr., is currently in post-production and appears to center around a couple who find themselves stuck in a tiny New Mexico community. At first, they are warmly received, but the town reveals a darker side as evening approaches. Phoenix plays the role of the town’s sheriff, harboring lofty aspirations.
It is known that EbMaster recognizes the possibility of “Eddington” premiering in Cannes, marking Aster’s initial directorial debut at the festival if it occurs. A24 aims for a summer premiere with this film.
Filming for the project titled “Eddington” began in March 2024, with screenwriter and director Aster, along with Lars Knudsen, working under their production company Square Peg on writing, directing, and producing duties. Two-time Academy Award nominee Darius Khondji is responsible for the film’s cinematography. A24 is providing financial backing as well as production support for this movie.
Eddington” signifies the sixth joint venture between Square Peg and A24, the team responsible for producing and distributing Aster’s previous three movies – “Hereditary,” “Midsommar,” and “Beau Is Afraid” – as well as “Dream Scenario” and future projects like “Death of a Unicorn,” “The Drama,” and “Primetime.
At the European Film Market (EFM), A24 will present two additional highly anticipated films: “Mother Mary,” an epic pop melodrama by David Lowery, featuring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, with original music by Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX; and the critically acclaimed comedy-drama “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” starring Rose Byrne in a standout performance that has garnered much praise.
