PoE devs positively surprised fans. „Just had 19 Ascendancies lying around”

Last week, Grinding Gear Games studio shared some disappointing updates about the initial Path of Exile. Due to their focus on the sequel, they’ve had to delay the release of Patch 3.26, which includes a new league. This news didn’t sit well with some players, as they were led to believe that the development of the original game wouldn’t be affected by the sequel’s launch. However, today, the studio made up for it by announcing additional content designed to make the wait more bearable for fans.

New event in Path of Exile

Grinding Gear Games announced that they’ll be starting a monthly event featuring “unusual concepts conceived but not fully developed during brainstorming sessions.

In “Path of Exile 1”, how would things appear if the nineteen Ascendancy Classes you’re accustomed to were suddenly changed for a set of different nineteen? Or, in simpler terms, imagine playing as a Witch and eventually ascending to become a Harbinger. These are the types of questions our design team ponders over, and they will share some of their insights with us.

It appears that the upcoming event may lead to some changes within the Ascendancy system, allowing us to choose various character classes instead of our usual ones upon exiting the labyrinth. For instance, Harbinger, who is usually an opponent in the game, could potentially become a playable character. The specifics of this change will be revealed at a later date when the studio shares more information with us.

It’s fairly obvious that the developers’ announcement was warmly welcomed by the players, given how eager they are for fresh content in the current league of Path of Exile. Given its length, it’s no wonder they’re thirsting for something new. What makes this even more exciting is the novelty of choosing a class that is usually an enemy, which significantly alters the gameplay experience.

Did I just read Harbinger?!?!?!

As a primary user of Path of Exile 2 myself, it’s wonderful to witness these updates for the Path of Exile 1 community. I truly hope it helps bridge the current divide and have faith that Grinding Gear Games will continue to make improvements in the future.

I happened to have 19 Ascendancies left over. I’m betting that this seemingly insignificant material will outshine some actual leagues, and it seems to have been underestimated.

Is the fresh material sufficient to please our audience? Time will tell when it’s unveiled. Meanwhile, our rivals aren’t taking a break; for example, Eleventh Hour Games just declared the commencement of Last Epoch Season 2.
