Fans strongly objected to speculation that the new Battlefield game might feature a Battle Royale mode, instead urging developers to abandon such plans altogether.
The Battlefield Labs program allows gamers to test a preliminary version (pre-alpha build) of an upcoming installment in the series and offer suggestions on gameplay. Furthermore, it was also announced that DICE, Motice, Ripple Effect, and Criterion have united to establish Battlefield Studios, which will be responsible for producing the new game.
In this setup, DICE is focusing on developing the multiplayer aspect, while Criterion is mainly handling the creation of the single-player storyline. On the other hand, Motive is in charge of crafting both the single-player missions and multiplayer maps.
Regarding Ripple Effect, the team is currently developing a unique type of gaming encounter, which could potentially draw in a vast number of fresh Battlefield enthusiasts, leading some to speculate it might be a Battle Royale-style game.

In February 2024, it was leaked that Battlefield will introduce a free-to-play Battle Royale game mode. Back in 2019, Battlefield attempted to create a Battle Royale experience with Firestorm for BFV, but the 64-player game mode didn’t succeed and the developers stopped providing updates for it.
After the first letdown, fans shuttered at the thought of another try.
One fan proposed, “Fantastic! But avoid resembling Warzone, Fortnite, or PUBG. Instead, embody the spirit of Battlefield.
The first user suggested that Battle Royale should be left in its place, implying it’s not suitable for them in Battlefield V because it didn’t seem to function well.
Fortunately, Battlefield Labs offers an opportunity for enthusiasts to test each gameplay mode and offer their insights prior to the release of the finished product. It’s been confirmed by Battlefield Studios that Conquest and Breakthrough will be among the game modes accessible during the playtesting phase.
As a gamer, I’m excited that the game will include the classic lineup of Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes. It’s yet to be determined if the developers plan to revisit the battle royale genre again, but some players are skeptical about this potential move.
