In the warmer months of 2024, the critically-acclaimed independent movie that took home the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, titled “In the Summers,” will be available for online streaming on Hulu.
Beginning February 5th, Alessandra Lacorazza’s multi-decade narrative about the tumultuous bond between two siblings and their father has been released in the U.S. by Music Box. The movie will be screened in various international locations like Europe, Latin America, and Asia following its release on Hulu.
The movie is headlined by renowned international rapper René Pérez Joglar (also known as Residente), Sasha Calle, Lío Mehiel, and Leslie Grace. Joglar won a Grammy for best urban music album on Sunday night, ending Bad Bunny’s consecutive wins in that category. In the future, Mehiel will appear in Luca Guadagnino’s highly anticipated film “After the Hunt,” starring Julia Roberts.

Lacorazza expressed his excitement as ‘In the Summers’ will reside at Hulu. He believes it’s an ideal platform for the movie to attract a larger viewership,” Lacorazza said to EbMaster. Notably, this project previously won the top prize at Sundance and garnered the grand jury prize at the Deauville Film Festival. Moreover, it earned a nomination for breakthrough director at the 2020 Gotham Awards. This year, Lacorazza and Joglar are both nominated for the Independent Spirit Awards – in categories best first feature and breakthrough performer respectively.
Callie and Mehiel portray the roles of two closely connected siblings who travel annually during summer vacations to New Mexico to spend time with their captivating but unpredictable father (Joglar). The movie delves into themes such as sexuality, heartache, addiction, and familial bonds, resulting in a poignant blend of sorrow and sweetness.
As a great admirer, I’d like to highlight the talented individuals behind the scenes of “In the Summers”. Among them are Alexander Dinelaris, Rob Quadrino, Janek Ambros, Fernando Rodriguez-Vila, Jan Suter, Daniel Tantalean, Lynette Coll, Sergio Alberto Lira, Cristóbal Güell, and Cynthia Fernandez De La Cruz. Each one of them plays a significant role in bringing this production to life.
