The Sims And Sims 2 Legacy Editions Are Full Of Bugs, According To Players

This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise, and to celebrate, Electronic Arts has brought back not one, but two of my favorite games – The Sims and The Sims 2! Just a few days ago, they dropped the Legacy editions of these classics, complete with every single DLC pack. I’m so excited to relive the memories and create new stories in these timeless games!

For quite some time now, gamers have been eagerly anticipating a user-friendly approach to replay classic titles that established The Sims series. Regrettably, it seems neither the re-released games run smoothly, as they’ve been plagued with bugs and technical problems.

Initially, versions of The Sims were significantly distinct and potentially harder than the current Sims 4 gameplay, but the troubles users are facing with remakes aren’t primarily about changes in gameplay, but rather unintended bugs that EA didn’t want as part of the experience. These problems span from graphical glitches to the game failing to launch altogether. The Sims community on Reddit and official forums are swamped with complaints about issues players have been encountering with The Sims Legacy Edition and The Sims 2 Legacy Edition. In fact, one user mentioned they couldn’t get a refund on Steam because their time played in Sims 4 was added to their Legacy Edition playtime, preventing the latter from being returned.

In response to the outcry, EA has released a statement addressing the problems players are facing.

Hello, fellow Simmers! We’re aware that some of you are encountering different problems with The Sims: Legacy Edition and The Sims 2: Legacy Edition at the moment. Rest assured, we’re actively looking into these issues and aim to provide updates on potential solutions as soon as possible.

For troubleshooting game issues effectively, it’s helpful if players reporting bugs could attach screenshots, video clips, system diagnostic reports (dxdiags), and VulkanInfo.exe files (if accessible) when possible. This information will assist Electronic Arts in resolving the various problems found in both The Sims 1 games.
