EA Teases Next Battlefield’s Gameplay, Modern Setting

For the initial peek, Electronic Arts unveiled some gameplay footage from the upcoming installment in the extensive Battlefield franchise.

In this article, we’re discussing footage from the final moments of a video titled “Introducing Battlefield Labs,” which was shared by EA on Monday morning. This video explains that teams from DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive are collaborating on the upcoming Battlefield title. They aim to prioritize player testing during the remainder of the game’s development as a competitive first-person shooter. Towards the end, there is a preview of pre-alpha gameplay, presented in a highlights reel format.

From the seven presented clips, there’s much to glean. The footage depicts a substantial military unit engaged in combat across different urban locations. In terms of gameplay style, it appears to align closely with more realistic titles within the series such as Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. Throughout this skirmish, buildings are shown collapsing around the players, adding intensity to the firefight. The concluding clip in the video features a player detonating a building using an explosive device, resulting in its destruction.

The Battlefield series has historically placed great importance on destruction, and this newest installment will carry on that tradition. In this game, vehicles are expected to significantly contribute to the destruction, as demonstrated in the gameplay clips where tanks battle alongside soldiers. Despite being just a brief 10-second clip, it already provides a clear indication of the game’s destructive elements.

Currently, the upcoming Battlefield game doesn’t have a title or set release date, since it’s currently undergoing active development in its pre-alpha phase. If you’d like to get an early sneak peek and assist Electronic Arts in testing the game, consider signing up for Battlefield Labs.
