Ubisoft reversed its plan to sell games via Valve’s digital platform, Steam, following years of criticism towards its business model. They asserted that the digital storefront no longer aligns with the current state of game distribution in the world today. However, this move did not sit well for Ubisoft when their financial reports were released in September 2024, as Assassin’s Creed Shadows was postponed until 2025 and Star Wars Outlaws had been available for sale only for a short period of time.
The French publisher has reaffirmed their plans to release their video games on Steam. Starting from November 2024, Outlaws will be available, followed by Assassin’s Creed Shadows on March 20th, 2025. Moreover, numerous games have been enhanced with refreshing updates and new features such as Steam Achievements. This feature has also been incorporated into another edition of the Assassin’s Creed series.

In simple terms, “Assassin’s Creed Rogue was referred to as the ‘darkest chapter’ yet in the game series because players follow Shay Patrick Cormac’s story, a former member of the Assassins who eventually becomes an Assassin hunter for the Templars. This unique narrative provides a fresh perspective on the long-standing conflict between the Assassins and the Templars. Now, Ubisoft has introduced Steam Achievements to Assassin’s Creed Rogue.
In a recent development, Rogue has been integrated with Mirage and Valhalla. Over the past few months, these games have started offering Steam Achievements for players to unlock during gameplay. Ubisoft has announced that these Steam Achievements will be awarded retroactively to those who have already accomplished them through Ubisoft Connect. While playing, players are following Shay’s character as he embarks on his dark journey and leaves the Assassin Order to join the Templars.
Ubisoft has incorporated Steam Achievements into several Far Cry titles recently, among them Far Cry 6. It’s unclear which other games will receive this feature. On the other hand, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next installment in the celebrated action-adventure series, is set to debut on March 20th, 2025, and will come with Steam Achievements from its launch date.
