Civilization 7 DLC Release Date Roadmap Revealed, New Civs & Leaders Announced

At launch, Civilization 7 offers a comprehensive game, and post-release DLC is planned to continually expand its content. Initially, the base game and special edition DLC packs provide 26 leaders and 31 civilizations, however, 12 more have been confirmed with additional ones likely to follow in upcoming months. The official Civ 7 DLC schedule outlines the timeline for some of the initial DLC expansions, as well as two free content updates, offering players a sneak peek into what’s ahead throughout the year.

Civ 7 DLC Release Date Schedule & Roadmap

The global debut of Civilization 7 is scheduled for February 11, but players who have pre-ordered the Deluxe or Founders Edition can start playing as early as February 6. Meanwhile, the developers at Firaxis and 2K are already planning what’s coming next for fans to anticipate. The latest Civilization 7 stream revealed a roadmap of releases planned for 2025, and there’s lots to get excited about!

Combining the “Crossroads of the World” and “Right to Rule” packs will introduce four fresh leaders, eight new civilizations, four unique natural wonders, and four extraordinary world wonders into the game. The “Crossroads of the World” collection is a part of the Deluxe Edition in Civilization 7, while the “Right to Rule” collection is included in the Founders Edition.

Here’s all the Civ 7 DLC additions that have been confirmed:

  • Early March: New Leader Ada Lovelace, New Civs Carthage & Great Britain, and 4 New Natural Wonders [Release 1 for Crossroads of the World Collection]
  • Late March: New Leader Simon Bolivar, New Civs Bulgaria & Nepal [Release 2 for Crossroads of the World Collection]
  • April to September: Right to Rule Collection featuring 2 New Leaders, 4 New Civs, and 4 New World Wonders [Likely broken into two releases like Crossroads of the World]

Further DLC packs will be unveiled at a future time, however, details about these being paid have been verified. Meanwhile, for those who own the main game, there are also two confirmed free expansion packs on the horizon.

  • Early March: 1.1.0 Major Update with New Event (Natural Wonder Battle) and New Natural Wonder (Bermuda Triangle)
  • Late March: 1.1.1 Update with New Event (Marvelous Mountains) and New Natural Wonder (Mount Everest)

Further activities, obstacles, and additional free material are in the works, however, no further details have been disclosed at this time.

It seems that the pricing information is still under wraps, but it appears they’re considering selling each collection as a DLC bundle. Alternatively, you can buy parts of it as separate packs. If they decide to split the items from Release 1 and Release 2 of Crossroads of the World into two distinct packs, purchasing both would offer a small discount compared to buying them individually.

Players who own both the Founders Content Pack and Deluxe Content Pack expansions for Civilization 7 will eventually have a selection of 30 leaders and 39 civilizations at their disposal once the Crossroads of the World and Right to Rule collections are completely released later this year. Given that Civilization 6 received additional DLC for seven years post-release, this is just the start for what Civ 7 has in store.
