Two entertainment companies are organizing a fresh “Breaking In” online workshop scheduled for February, offering insights to budding professionals about how they can make their initial step into the industry.
Hosted by the Hollywood Radio & TV Society Foundation and Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program, this event takes place on February 25th at 4 pm Pacific Time, via Zoom. It’s a free event that welcomes both members and non-members alike.
As a movie enthusiast, here’s my take: I’m thrilled to invite you all to join an engaging panel discussion and Q&A session that I’ll be hosting alongside Jon Kee from Circle Management + Production. This event will bring together industry heavyweights such as Tim McNeal, the senior vice president of creative talent development and inclusion at Disney Entertainment Television, Cliff Decatrel, a Deca-Media development executive and producer, Janaé Désiré, NBCUniversal’s director of Universal Content Productions development, Shakira Hedgpeth, a TV literary agent from Kaplan Stahler Agency, Kristena Hatcher, the CEO and founder of North Star Focus, and Mimi Vengoechea, an unscripted casting director at Go For Casting. This promises to be an enlightening and informative event, so don’t miss out!
I’m thrilled to join forces with the HRTS Foundation for this influential event, paving paths into the entertainment world. A career starts with access, chances, and a pledge to grow – ‘Breaking In’ embodies these principles. This occasion is all about arming the future generation with the necessary skills, wisdom, and motivation they require to embark on their journey towards realizing their aspirations. Stacy Milner, EICOP president and CEO, expressed this sentiment in a statement.
This occasion marks the initial joint venture between the two entities, and it also serves as the HRTS Foundation’s debut public initiative.
Melissa Grego, the CEO and chairman of HRTS Foundation, expressed her pride in announcing the first joint event with EICOP, a strong and influential organization. This collaboration is set to amplify our goal of providing knowledge and guidance to as many students and aspiring professionals in the entertainment industry as we can, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed.
The Independent HRTS Foundation, functioning autonomously, focuses on drawing attention to resources for individuals from underprivileged groups within the entertainment sector. Meanwhile, EICOP is an educational initiative designed to empower students at traditionally Black universities by providing them with the tools necessary to establish themselves in the entertainment industry.
