LGBTQ+ Romantic Thriller ‘Streets of Gloria’ Acquired by Matchbox Films for U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand (EXCLUSIVE)

In a recent transaction, Matchbox Films has secured distribution rights for the British Isles, Australia, and New Zealand for the Brazilian LGBTQ+ romantic thriller “Streets of Gloria,” which is Felipe Sholl’s latest cinematic effort. The deal was facilitated by M-Appeal, a sales agency based in Berlin.

“Streets of Gloria” was sold to Dark Star Pictures for North America, as previously announced.

Last year, I was thrilled to witness the global debut of a heart-thumping, emotionally intense movie at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia. Subsequently, it graced the screens at the vibrant Mardi Gras Film Festival held in Sydney, Australia.

The story revolves around Gabriel, a fresh literature instructor, who’s recently relocated to Rio. He stumbles upon The Glória, a vibrant bar and pick-up spot, where he quickly befriends the captivating owner, Monica. When he encounters Adriano, a charismatic escort, an intense romantic connection ignites, leading to a passionate yet stormy relationship. Tragically, one day Adriano vanishes, prompting Gabriel to embark on an investigative quest. Eventually, he takes on the role of an escort himself, recognizing that his fixation on Adriano is steering him towards ruin. As he finds solace in Monica and his new companions, he discovers a sense of family and fresh motivations for life.

I’m enthralled to share that this captivating production is brought to life by Daniel van Hoogstraten from Syndrome Films. Collaboratively, it was also produced by RioFilme and Telecine. Notably, we have the backing of Brazil’s Audiovisual Sector Fund in its creation.

This production features actors such as Caio Macedo, Alejandro Claveaux, Diva Menner, Alan Ribeiro, Jade Sassara and Sandro Aliprandini.

Matchbox Films’ latest offerings feature “At Night, All Cats Appear Black,” “Fireworks” and “Since We Parted Ways.” (This version maintains the original structure but uses simpler, more conversational language.)

The trailer is shown below.
