PSN account will no longer be required on PC. However, Sony is offering variety of „extras” to encourage players to use it

Sony is putting effort into persuading PC gamers to utilize a PlayStation Network account, as it’s now essential for playing PS5 game conversions. To sweeten the deal, Sony has revealed extra incentives in various computer-released games they’ve published. These titles include Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War: Ragnarok, The Last of Us: Part II Remastered, and Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered.

In future, connecting your PlayStation Network account within these entries won’t be mandatory anymore (as there was significant pushback from the community regarding this requirement). So, what benefits or rewards can we look forward to if we choose to link our accounts later on?

  1. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – early access to Spider-Man 2099 and Miles Morales 2099 costumes.
  2. God of War: Ragnarok – Black Bear set for Kratos to be found in the resource chest in the World Between Worlds. Moreover, you can get 250 XP and 500 pieces of silver
  3. The Last of Us: Part II Remastered – extra 50 points to allocate. Besides this, Ellie will receive a Jordan jacket skin, which belongs to the character from the recently revealed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
  4. Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered – players will receive the Nora Valiant outfit, which is rare in the game.

Additionally, progress is being made to offer additional perks to users who establish a PSN account. Whether these advantages will extend to other PlayStation Studios games on PC (like Helldivers 2) remains uncertain.

It’s important to mention that among the games listed earlier, only two – “The Last of Us: Part II Remastered” (releasing on April 2, 2025) and “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” from Insomniac Games (available now) – will be launched exclusively for PC users this year.
