In a significant turn of events, No Man’s Sky has been updated yet again, and oh great Atlas, this one’s a doozy! The Worlds Part 2 expansion offers a plethora of fresh content, additional planetary types, an entirely new narrative, and soon, a new Expedition will commence, with the Wraith ship as its primary prize. As always, with major updates come modifications and novel features. In this instance, Hello Games has incorporated item sorting options, though one should tread carefully as it seems to be experiencing some initial glitches.
Sorting trouble in No Man’s Sky
In the 5.5 update to NMS, new inventory management features have been introduced. Now, with just one click of a button, you can sort your items based on their name, type, value, or color. Additionally, duplicate stacks will be automatically combined for a more streamlined setup. This sounds convenient, but some players may find that the actual implementation doesn’t function as smoothly as anticipated.
As a dedicated gamer, I jumped right into the latest installment of No Man’s Sky, Worlds Part 2, fresh off its release. I was eager to explore the new content and give the inventory sorting feature a whirl. Frankly, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations when organizing my items, but things took a chilling turn when I attempted to auto-arrange my tech. The shock was palpable as I discovered that more than half of my valuable equipment had mysteriously vanished! When I stammered out a confused “Where did my other ones go?” and fell silent, the collective gasp from my audience echoed in my ears – pure, unadulterated horror.
Initially, I assumed it was an isolated incident, but it seems more people are experiencing the same issue. If you don’t catch it in time while playing, you might permanently lose your items or need to revert to an earlier save. While some players use quick saves, many others rely on auto-save. If you sort your items and then enter or exit your ship without manually saving first, and find that half of your items are missing, then unfortunately, you’re in trouble. Here’s hoping Hello Games fixes this glitch promptly.
I’ve yet to experiment with this function, and I doubt I ever will. Each person manages their stock uniquely, and although categorizing items by type appears beneficial, it likely won’t suit all users.
It seems likely that they are employing the NMS as a trial ground for refining Light No Fire. This should provide them with additional technical experience, leading to a potentially more refined and balanced version of Light No Fire upon its release.
