Hans Zimmer’s ‘Diamond in the Desert’ Concert Film Hits Theaters in March

Starting March 19th, I’m thrilled to share that the concert film “Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert,” filmed in Dubai and featuring interviews with some of the esteemed stars and filmmakers Hans Zimmer has collaborated with, will be gracing movie theaters worldwide, as announced by Trafalgar Releasing on Wednesday.

Over two hours and 38 minutes, the film will showcase most of its length as live performances by Zimmer and his ensemble, playing tracks from movies such as “Dune,” “The Lion King,” “Gladiator,” and “Interstellar.” These performances will take place in various locations, including Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena and the Al Wasl Plaza dome at Expo City Dubai.

Some characters in the movie didn’t travel to Dubai because it also features interviews with notable figures like Billie Eilish, Finneas, Johnny Marr (collaborators with Zimmer on “No Time to Die”), Christopher Nolan, Jerry Bruckheimer, Pharrell Williams, Tanya Lapointe, and the main cast of “Dune” – Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Denis Villeneuve.

Paul Dugdale serves as the director and is also one of the executive producers for the film. So far, he has directed a total of 14 movies that were released in theaters featuring music. With over a hundred projects under his belt, spanning cinemas, streaming platforms, or television, his work includes “Coldplay: Music of the Spheres,” “Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium,” “Adele: One Night Only,” “Raye at the Royal Albert Hall,” “The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden,” “An Evening With Dua Lipa” and “Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour.

Simon Fisher, Steven Kofsky, Michael Marto, Omar Saab, and John Featherstone are responsible for creating the movie. Trafalgar will distribute the film everywhere except in the Middle East, where Vox will handle distribution instead.

Speaking about it, Hans Zimmer shared that the Hans Zimmer Live tour was an exhilarating milestone in his career. He’s now eager to share this experience with a worldwide audience through ‘Diamond in the Desert’. It’s fascinating to watch these pieces evolve from their initial big-screen versions, move to the live performances, and then return to the big screen again. I hope everyone enjoys this rare glimpse into our creative process as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Trafalgar’s additional theater showings encompass movies from various concerts such as Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” worldwide distribution, as well as those of Beyoncé, BTS, Metallica, Oasis, Coldplay, and Billie Eilish.

Screenings for the Hans Zimmer film will commence once tickets are made available, starting February 5th at 6 a.m. Pacific Time / 9 a.m. Eastern Time on hanszimmerfilm.com. The movie is scheduled to screen across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and United Arab Emirates beginning March 19th. Screening dates for Australasia and other Middle Eastern countries have not yet been announced but will follow at a later time.
