‘My Old Ass’ Director Megan Park Sets YA Series at Amazon With Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, LuckyChap (EXCLUSIVE)

Megan Park, a seasoned writer-director with past works, has secured a series deal on Amazon Prime Video for her upcoming drama, “Sterling Point,” according to our exclusive information.

Specific storyline elements remain secret, yet it’s known that “Sterling Point” falls within the realm of Young Adult dramas. The creator, Park, is not only responsible for its inception but will also take on directorial duties, executive production, and share the role of co-showrunner.

Veterans in the YA genre, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, will serve as executive producers and co-showrunners for the project under their production company, Fake Empire. LuckyChap, known for producing “My Old Ass,” will take on the role of executive producer due to their first-look TV deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The distribution rights for “My Old Ass” were acquired by Amazon MGM Studios following its premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. The film initially had a limited theatrical release before it was made available on Prime Video.

This version maintains the original meaning while using more natural and easy-to-read language. It also slightly rephrases some phrases to sound less informal or colloquial.

The movie titled “My Old Self” featured Maisy Stella and Aubrey Plaza. In the plot, Stella’s character meets a 39-year-old version of herself (portrayed by Plaza) during a mushroom trip. Upon its premiere, this film garnered widespread acclaim, boasting a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In his critique for EbMaster, Peter Debruge stated that the film is truthful about teenage longings, confusion related to sexual identity, and various actions that make concerned parents break out in cold sweats.

Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM Studios’ TV head, mentioned that Megan, along with Josh, Stephanie, and LuckyChap, have created a captivating series called ‘Sterling Point.’ He added that the show appeals to younger viewers while dealing with themes relevant to various age groups. Schwartz and Savage are well-known names in Young Adult (YA) storytelling, having jointly created the popular series “Gossip Girl” and overseeing its recent reboot on Max. They also have credits for shows like “Looking for Alaska,” “The OC,” “Runaways,” “Hart of Dixie,” the revamped “Dynasty,” and “Nancy Drew.” Lately, they have collaborated to create a drama series for Apple TV+ titled “City on Fire,” which is an adaptation from Garth Risk Hallberg’s novel with the same name.
