New update to Project Zomboid makes big changes to guns and chicken hatching in „unstable” version of this survival game

In a recent update, the widely-loved survival sandbox game – “Project Zomboid”, has introduced some new features. These additions include controlling TVs within the game, as well as the introduction of firearms, keys for buildings and vehicles, and even the intricate mechanics surrounding chicken hatching from eggs.

Yesterday on Steam, update 42.2.0 rolled out, and I’ve got to say, it’s packed with some exciting changes! Apart from the usual tweaks to balance and gameplay, as well as squashing bugs and smoothing out rough visual edges (over 250 fixes in total), there are some cool new features that have been added.

I’m really looking forward to checking them out!

One aspect involves the handling of keys for buildings and vehicles. In Admin or Debug mode, these keys contain specific coordinates that enable movement to the initial spots where the keys were first found. However, this functionality is applicable only to items that were introduced after the update. It’s important to note that using the key will always transport us back to the original location of the associated object. This means if you moved a vehicle, you would still be teleported to its initial appearance point.

As a gamer, I’m really excited about the recent update! It seems like finding firearms like guns is going to become more frequent now, with higher chances of stumbling upon them in stores and police warehouses. Plus, the developers have made aiming smoother by enhancing the maximum angle of character rotation while using weapons. This change should make gameplay controls feel a lot more intuitive.

Goodbye, chicken farm

The least anticipated change, subtly concealed amidst a barrage of common modifications, is the novel method by which chicks emerge from eggs. In this revised process, they won’t burst forth from their protective shells under unfavorable conditions – meaning we store them in refrigeration units. This adjustment could potentially curtail our adaptability to some extent.

The update should aim to undo some of the alterations that occurred in December, which may not have been favorable among fans. Yet, if we find the latest game features unsatisfactory, there’s always the option to revert back to an earlier version of the game.
