Justin Baldoni Apologizes to Blake Lively Over ‘It Ends With Us’ Rewrites in Lengthy Voice Note: ‘I Am Far From Perfect, I Am a Flawed Man’

In the recent development of the legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, an old voice message from the director of “It Ends with Us” has been made public, where he expresses remorse for his impulsive reaction to Lively’s portrayal of the well-known rooftop scene.

The six-minute message, initially obtained by Daily Mail, is an apology from Baldoni, delivered in a tone of urgency to resolve any issues stemming from Lively’s rooftop edits. In the recording, Baldoni mentions it’s “two in the morning,” but the exact date it was made remains uncertain.

I’m not perfect; I make mistakes like anyone else, as my wife can vouch for. I will undoubtedly slip up, say something inappropriate, or offend you at times. But I promise to acknowledge my errors, apologize sincerely, and make amends. That much I can guarantee.

The disagreement about revisions initially came to light through Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit filed against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. In this lawsuit, Baldoni disclosed a text conversation showing Lively expressing dissatisfaction with Baldoni’s reaction to her suggested edits.

Baldoni went on to express: “I feel we’ve been cultivating a connection between us, and I believe we’ve achieved that effectively. You see, we’re having this conversation, even at this late hour, mainly through texts and voice messages. Now, let me be clear, expressing myself in writing isn’t my forte. I thrive when I’m with people, immersed in their presence, interacting face-to-face. I feel that’s where I shine the most, and unfortunately, I’ve found myself stumbling at times during our text and voice note conversations due to the lack of physical interaction. However, I’m eagerly anticipating spending real time together because I believe it will greatly enhance our rapport, which I firmly believe has been present since the beginning.

The disagreement between Baldoni and Lively originated in December when Lively submitted a complaint alleging sexual harassment and retaliation against the actor from “Jane the Virgin.” Currently, both parties are involved in a legal battle in federal court; Lively is accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation, while Baldoni is countersuing Lively and Reynolds for defamation and extortion. Judge Lewis J. Liman, who is presiding over both cases, has scheduled an initial hearing for February 3rd. Additionally, Liman has established a timeline that could potentially lead to a trial as early as March 2026.
