MLB The Show 25 Launches In March, But Won’t Be On Game Pass This Year

Sony Santa Monica revealed that the latest addition to MLB The Show series, namely MLB The Show 25, is scheduled to release on March 18th. This game will be playable on PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S. However, unlike its predecessors for three generations, MLB The Show 25 won’t be accessible through Xbox Game Pass upon its initial launch.

2025 edition of MLB The Show marks its 20-year milestone by showcasing not a single cover athlete but three – Paul Skenes from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds, and Gunnar Henderson representing the Baltimore Orioles.

Sony Santa Monica has confirmed that MLB The Show 25 won’t be available as part of any platform subscription services in 2025. This means it likely won’t be added to PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass this year, although there may be a chance for it to join gaming subscriptions starting from 2026 and onwards. Previously, the series, including MLB The Show 21 and subsequent editions, were made available on Xbox Game Pass on their release day when they went multiplatform.

Preordering kicks off on February 4th, and if you choose the Digital Deluxe Edition, you’ll get early access to the game as early as March 14th. Additionally, you can register for the MLB The Show Scouting Report newsletter. From April 2025, subscribers will be gifted a special monthly pack containing in-game bonuses, all the way up to December 2025.

On February 4th at 9 AM Pacific Time / 12 PM Eastern Time, we’ll unveil the initial gameplay trailer for MLB The Show 25. At a later time, MLB Network host Robert Flores will provide an in-depth look into its features.
