It’s possible that we might see the initial games from The Sims collection, namely The Sims and The Sims 2, make a comeback as soon as next week. A recent promotional video for the series’ 25th anniversary seems to hint at the reintroduction of these beloved classics by Electronic Arts (EA).
In the promotional video, you’ll see the emblem for The Sims 25th anniversary, followed by a brief clip that depicts clicking on a “Time Travel” icon, reminiscent of the classic cursor and interaction design from earlier games.
It seems that for quite some time, neither the original The Sims nor The Sims 2 could be played officially, as neither game had been digitally released. However, according to Kotaku’s report, re-releases of The Sims 1 and 2 are set to debut on PC later this week. These new versions will come with all the original expansion packs included.
As reported by Kotaku, these games had been hinted at earlier through distinctive sound cues during a “Behind the Sims” presentation that took place this month.
To mark The Sims’ 25th anniversary, there are several festivities planned. One such celebration is a substantial free upgrade for The Sims 4, boasting more than 70 new accessories for both character customization and the game’s construction aspect. Additionally, on February 4, gamers will experience a temporary event called “Flashback Festival,” lasting four weeks. During this event, players can complete challenges to obtain classic items reminiscent of the 2000s, such as Frutiger Aero items.
On February 4th, I’m excitedly counting down the hours until I tune into The Sims’ official YouTube channel for a 25-hour live extravaganza! Expect exciting updates, special appearances, and plenty of fun! Mark your calendars, fellow fans!
