There’s Definitely Graphic Lesbian Sex in Tig Notaro’s New Documentary

Apologies for any confusion earlier, but let me clarify that Tig Notaro’s new documentary, titled “Come See Me in the Good Light“, does not contain explicit graphic lesbian sex scenes. However, it offers a deeply moving exploration of human resilience, striking artistry, and heartfelt relationships, focusing on poet Andrea Gibson and their partner, Megan Falley, as they navigate Gibson’s battle against incurable ovarian cancer. During an interview at Sundance 2025, producers Notaro and director Ryan White mentioned a scene from the filming that was particularly poignant. When asked about this moment, White described the first day of filming: “It’s quite intense. Andrea has just received a grim cancer diagnosis, and it becomes the most explicit portrayal of lesbian relationships in our documentary.” Notaro then intervenes to correct this statement: “Not an explicit lesbian relationship scene. We don’t want to mislead anyone.” However, she playfully adds: “But if that’s what it takes to entice you into watching the movie, there are indeed graphic depictions of lesbian relationships in our film.

Despite any doubts about their claims, Gibson and Falley are considered “documentary gems” due to their openness. When we first met Andrea and Meg a year ago in Colorado, they stood out. White remarked, “They’re like unique subjects for documentaries. Typically, it takes months to warm up a documentary subject, but they were so natural and open from the start that we knew we wanted to create something.” This certainly looks like an emotional rollercoaster ride for those of us who can’t attend Park City, as it premieres elsewhere. Can’t wait!
