8.3 million viewers tuned in to Disney+ Hotstar’s unique live stream of Coldplay’s concert in Ahmedabad, India, amassing a total watch time of 1.65 billion minutes over the span of the three-hour event on January 26th.
The British rock band commenced their show at Narendra Modi Stadium with an impressive turnout of more than 134,000 spectators. Frontman Chris Martin charmed the crowd by addressing them in Hindi and Gujarati, and as a gesture to honor India’s 75th anniversary of republic, he sang “Vande Mataram,” the national song, causing an electric atmosphere throughout the stadium.
At the inaugural music livestream event for Disney+ Hotstar in India, which signified an important step in the nation’s entertainment industry, cricket sensation Jasprit Bumrah was present. Notably, Martin put on a unique performance specifically for Bumrah. The night started off with local artists like Jasleen Royal, Shone, and Elyanna performing. Later, they joined Coldplay during their performance of “We Pray” on stage. However, the opening acts were not broadcasted live on Disney+ Hotstar.
