On a Friday, Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld, unveiled a fresh endeavor – a publishing division. This revelation was accompanied by the disclosure that their initial venture would be in collaboration with Surgent Studios, developers of Tales of Kenzera: Zau, which is set for release in 2024. Not long ago, Surgent Studios had openly sought a publishing partner. In just 15 hours following the announcement, Pocketpair’s Communications Director and Publishing Manager shared on Twitter that they had been flooded with over 1,500 LinkedIn notifications from potential partners and project proposals.

Indeed, in spite of the ongoing legal dispute with The Pokémon Company and Nintendo, Pocketpair is venturing into a fresh publishing division aimed at assisting independent game developers to create their own games. Pocketpair Publishing expressed this on X/Twitter, stating, “We remain committed to creating enjoyable games, and we’re thrilled to now have the opportunity to aid others in bringing their fun game ideas to fruition.” Following the remarkable success of Palworld last year, it’s heartening to see resources being channeled towards other indie developers who require assistance. This announcement mirrors the publishing arm, Outersloth, announced by Among Us developer Innersloth at last year’s Summer Game Fest.
Surgent Studios, creators of the intriguing game “Tales of Kenzera: Zau”, are collaborating with Pocketpair Publishing on a fresh horror project. As per Abubakar Salim, CEO of Surgent, both parties are known for taking risks. They’ve observed a trend in the entertainment sector and Pocketpair has provided them with the chance to develop a chilling game based on this pattern. It will be brief and peculiar, promised Salim in a press release via PCGamer. With the enthusiasm and originality demonstrated in Surgent’s debut game, we eagerly anticipate the look of this upcoming title.
If Pocketpair Publishing got more than a thousand messages on their first day, I bet their email box is now bursting at the seams by the weekend. I hope they’ve got the perseverance to find the important ones amidst all the messages. Given their positive responses on social media, it seems they’re taking this influx in stride.
Bucky, Communications Director and Publishing Manager, utilized Twitter to address numerous fan inquiries and feedback. He even constructed a Microsoft Paint diagram to clarify the company’s organizational structure. In response to a query regarding Pocketpair’s role in the development process, Bucky simply stated, “You receive funding from us. You create the game“. At this point, we eagerly anticipate future updates from Pocketpair Publishing.
