Kevin Costner will be the host and executive producer for a three-part documentary series called “Yellowstone to Yosemite,” which is set to debut on Fox Nation starting February 8. New episodes will be released each week thereafter. This project marks the second collaboration between Costner and the network, following his deal to produce “Yellowstone: One-Fifty” in 2022.
Accompanied by Kevin Costner, ‘Yellowstone to Yosemite’ depicts a journey retracing the steps of Theodore Roosevelt’s 1903 expedition, led by conservationist John Muir. This trip inspired Roosevelt to safeguard Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove, ultimately placing them under federal protection and incorporating them into the national park system.”
(The goal here was to maintain the original meaning while making it more conversational and easier to read.)
In this series, Kevin Costner delves into the profound history of Indigenous America, the unexpected arrival of newcomers in 1850, and John Muir’s transformation from a regular person to an advocate for our most untouched natural spaces. Through Costner’s lens, we see the battles waged by Muir as he navigated complex resource management politics, and how Roosevelt’s involvement ultimately led to a more organized National Park System, the creation of 150 National Forests, 5 National Parks, and the preservation and protection of approximately 230 million acres of priceless land.
Occasionally, you encounter a tale that possesses an extraordinary blend of factors; it’s more unbelievable than a work of fiction and occurs defying all probability. It ultimately leads to something genuinely transformative for the better, and what’s most remarkable is that every bit of it actually took place,” said Costner. “The account of President Teddy Roosevelt’s camping journey with John Muir through Yosemite is one such extraordinary tale, and I can hardly wait to explore the next phase in the conservation of the American wilderness.
Lauren Petterson, president of Fox Nation, stated that Kevin Costner possesses a rare talent for portraying the American experience and mesmerizing audiences with his exceptional narratives. Following the tremendous success of their initial collaboration, she believes there is no director who embodies the essence of America during its 250th anniversary better than Costner.
The production ‘Yellowstone to Yosemite’ was created jointly by Territory Films, owned by Kevin Costner, and Warm Springs Productions. Rod Lake serves as executive producer alongside Costner, while Marc Pierce holds the position for Warm Springs.
