If you enjoy space exploration, constructing spacecraft and stations, you’ll be thrilled to hear that Space Engineers 2, the follow-up to the widely appreciated sandbox simulation game, is now available in Early Access. Currently, it’s only playable on PC systems. However, for updates regarding console versions, check out our article for more information.
Space Engineers 2 (SE2) – console (PS5, PS4, Xbox) release explained
Typically, games released during Early Access don’t immediately appear on consoles. Developers tend to debut their incomplete projects primarily on a single platform, often PC, so they can concentrate solely on refining the gameplay and adding new features without being divided by supporting multiple platforms at once.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve got some insider info for you. Marek Rosa, one of the masterminds behind Space Engineers 2, recently shared in their official YouTube video that they’re choosing to keep their team united rather than divide them for working on the console version. The reason being, they believe in maintaining focus on a single task for optimal results.
The exciting update is that the console version of the game is set to launch, though it might not happen until close to when we finish Early Access, which could be anywhere from two to three years from now. To reassure players, know that one team member is currently working on the console port. Given the size of this project, one person will naturally take a considerable amount of time to complete. However, as we get closer to finishing the game, more team members will join in to help speed up the process. For now, all we can do is either wait or enjoy the PC version of the game.
