Rachel Sennott Got Bunnylovr Bumpin’ That Charli XCX Track

When Rachel Sennott heads to the movie theater, she’s all about grooving to some classic tunes by Charli XCX. In the run-up to her new film “Bunnylovr” premiering at Sundance this week, Sennott shared how she managed to secure Charli’s 2020 hit “Detonate” for the soundtrack. Katarina Zhu, writer, director, and Sennott’s co-star in the film, had initially imagined the track from Charli’s album “How I’m Feeling Now” fitting perfectly with the movie. Zhu put together a teaser that Sennott was more than happy to share with Charli. “I sent it to Charli. I said, if I do anything, there has to be a Charli song,” Sennott recalled, expressing her fondness for “Detonate” by stating that it’s one of her favorite tracks by the artist. As it turns out, Charli enjoyed the teaser, read the script, and gave an enthusiastic yes to being part of the film.

The movie, titled “Bunnylovr,” revolves around a New York cam-girl named Zhu who received a Dwarf Hotot rabbit as a gift from one of her frequent viewers. As Zhu described, the rabbit needed numerous breaks and came with quite the entourage – individuals from the Humane Society, animal handlers, and an agent were all part of the team. Jokingly, she referred to this “diva bunny” as consuming 25% of the film’s budget. To us, it seems like the rabbit was nothing less than a full-time party guest!
