Starting from January 24th, Nintendo has unveiled the upcoming games to join their Nintendo Switch Online service. These include Fatal Fury 2, Sutte Hakkun, and Super Ninja Boy, all of which are set to be part of the Super NES game library offered through the subscription service.
Just like other SNES games, you just need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription (the basic tier) to access these titles. Fatal Fury 2 is actually the 1994 version of an arcade fighting game by SNK that was adapted for the SNES. This sequel significantly boosted the popularity of the Fatal Fury series, positioning it as a formidable competitor to the Street Fighter juggernaut. Fatal Fury 2 is also notable as the game that introduced Mai Shiranui, who has since become one of SNK’s most recognized characters. The inclusion of Fatal Fury 2 in the service is timely because Mai will appear in Street Fighter 6 on February 5, and Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is scheduled for release on April 24.
These two games, Sutte Hakkun and Super Ninja Boy, can be described as hidden treasures in the gaming world. Super Ninja Boy was first released for SNES in North America in 1993 by Culture Brian. It stands out for its unique blend of action-RPG elements, including overworld and dungeon exploration, real-time beat-’em-up combat, and platforming. On the other hand, Sutte Hakkun is a puzzle-platformer that was initially launched on the Satellaview service for Super Famicom in 1997. Given the rarity of Satellaview games being re-released by Nintendo, having it available on Nintendo Switch Online now is quite special.
