‘Supergirl’ Star Milly Alcock Drops First Set Photo as Filming Begins

The DC Universe has officially welcomed the last daughter of Krypton.

To honor the beginning of filming for “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” lead actress Milly Alcock and DC Studios’ joint chief, James Gunn, have unveiled the initial snapshot captured on the movie’s set.

Excited to witness filming commence at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden for ‘Supergirl,'” Gunn shared on social media, acknowledging Alcock, director Craig Gillespie, screenwriter Ana Nogueira, and Tom King and Bilquis Evely who are responsible for the comic that inspired the movie. Alongside Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts from “The Old Guard” is set to portray the main antagonist, Krem of the Yellow Hills; Eve Ridley from “3 Body Problem” takes on the role of Ruthye Marye Knoll, who enlists Supergirl (Kara Zor-El) to avenge her father’s death at Krem’s hands; and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham are cast as Supergirl’s parents. Jason Momoa will make an appearance as the mercenary Lobo, while Krypto the Superdog is set to accompany them.

Emily Alcock, who made a memorable impression during the initial season of HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” was chosen for the role of Kara Zor-El approximately a year ago following an audition where she donned the Supergirl costume on the set of director James Gunn’s movie, “Superman.” This has sparked much discussion (and, as of yet, unverified rumors) about her potential debut as Supergirl alongside her Kryptonian relative in the upcoming premiere of “Superman,” scheduled for July.

During his initial unveiling of the DC Studios lineup alongside co-chief Peter Safran, Gunn indicated that this adaptation of Supergirl will be significantly edgier, as she witnessed the demise of Krypton prior to her arrival on Earth. “She’s not your typical Supergirl,” Gunn explained.

“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is slated to debut on June 26, 2026.
