Ubisoft has introduced the Animus Hub – a fresh addition planned for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which serves as an effortless gateway into the latest installments of the Assassin’s Creed series. It is important to note that the Animus Hub is not another separate application like a launcher; however, it does have the capacity to kickstart newer editions of Assassin’s Creed games directly.
The Animus Hub is set to debut seamlessly within Assassin’s Creed: Shadow, divided into four components: Memories, Projects, the Exchange, and the Vault. This platform serves not only as a means for Ubisoft to expand on the contemporary storyline of Assassin’s Creed but also rewards players with complimentary items as they advance. Players can also engage in specific missions from Assassin’s Creed: Shadow directly through the Animus Hub, with the option to access these missions either within the game or through the hub itself, and delve deeper into the series’ backstory and lore.

When initially launched, only the more recent installments of the Assassin’s Creed series, following Assassin’s Creed Origins, can be directly started from the Animus Hub. However, it’s important to note that older games in the series before Origins are not yet compatible.
Starting from now, the Animus Hub will feature in every upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, as confirmed by Ubisoft producer Andrée-Anne Boisvert to Gamesradar. This includes games that have already been announced such as Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe and the multiplayer spin-off Assassin’s Creed: Codename Invictus, along with titles that haven’t been revealed yet.
In a recent post, Ubisoft explains that the heart of their project is the concept of Animus and its significance in the Assassin’s Creed narrative. Their aim is to delve deeper into the Animus itself, uncovering what makes it such an effective storytelling tool within their fictional world.
In a Q&A style portion of their blog post, Ubisoft clarified that the Animus Hub isn’t intended as a standalone application and has no plans for such a change. To use the hub, you can only do so while playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows. All Animus Hub rewards are obtainable through gameplay, but keep in mind that the Memories section of the hub can be accessed offline. However, to access the Projects, Exchange, and Vault areas of the hub, you will need an internet connection.
As a dedicated gamer diving into the thrilling world of Assassin’s Creed, I’m thrilled about our audacious vision for the Animus Hub. Our aim is to weave together the intricate tapestry of the Assassin’s Creed universe, the Modern Day narrative, and the games you adore most. The unveiling within Assassin’s Creed Shadows is just the beginning of an epic adventure we embark on together. Rest assured, this hub will keep expanding, blooming with innovative features, captivating content, and enticing rewards over the months and years ahead.
The game titled “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” will be available starting March 20th. Originally planned for release in November 2024, the game has experienced several delays. In a recent hands-on preview, we commented that Assassin’s Creed Shadows seems to grapple with its historical and contemporary aspects.
