After announcing his intentions to purchase TikTok, MrBeast has witnessed a significant surge in his number of followers on the platform.
As the potential U.S. ban of TikTok drew nearer on January 19th, numerous multimillionaire businesspeople endeavored to rescue the platform; among them was MrBeast who expressed interest in purchasing the app.
“Okay fine, I’ll buy TikTok so it doesn’t get banned,” the YouTuber posted to X on January 13.
On January 20, Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast, stepped up his efforts to acquire TikTok by boarding a private aircraft to discuss partnership possibilities with a select group of potential investors.

In the middle of his flight to an unspecified destination, the 26-year-old announced to his vast following: “Currently aboard a private aircraft, I’m preparing to submit my proposal for acquiring TikTok.
There’s a possibility that I may take on the role of your new CEO. I’m absolutely thrilled about this opportunity! Unfortunately, I’m not at liberty to discuss the details of my proposal at the moment. Rest assured, it’s going to be quite extraordinary!
The following day after his meeting, it became public knowledge through Paul Hastings Law Firm that they were currently counseling a group of investors, who had a prepared, all-cash bid to acquire the platform.
MrBeast gains 4.9M TikTok followers since bid to buy platform
2025 saw rapid growth for MrBeast as the talk swirled about his potential acquisition of a short-video app, making him the speediest TikTok sensation that year.
Starting from January 13th, MrBeast experienced an increase of 4.9 million TikTok followers. Remarkably, he managed to gain over a million followers on two consecutive days, which makes up approximately half of his total follower growth on the platform since his announcement that he would purchase it.

Over the past 30 days, an average of approximately 196,667 individuals have been following MrBeast’s TikTok account each day.
Among all TikTokers, he ranks third in popularity, boasting a total following of more than 112 million. Charli D’Amelio leads with 157 million followers, followed closely by Khaby Lame who has 162 million.
Extending the potential ban of TikTok by President Trump on January 20 through an executive order, grants additional time for MrBeast to sort out his business matters, allowing him 75 more days.
