Psikyo, a company famous for its classic shoot-’em-up games, stopped making games over 20 years ago, but their titles remain highly regarded. If you’re a PC gamer who hasn’t experienced their work, it’s a good idea to buy them quickly, as they’ll be removed from sale on Steam at the end of October.
Because a license is expiring, these Psikyo games will be removed from Steam after October 31st:
- Strikers 1945
- Strikers 1945 II
- Strikers 1945 III
- Gunbird
- Gunbird 2
- Gunbarich
- Samurai Aces
- Samurai Aces Episode II: Tengai
- Samurai Aces Episode III: Sengoku Cannon
- Sol Divide
- Dragon Blaze
- Zero Gunner 2
These removals only affect the Steam versions of the games. You’ll still be able to buy and play them on other platforms like the Nintendo Switch. If you already own the games on Steam, you can keep playing them after October 31st. Several bundles are available, including options for individual series and a complete bundle for a little over $100.
Psikyo, created by developers formerly of Video System, quickly became known as a top developer of shoot-’em-up games. Their standout titles include the Strikers trilogy (along with a slightly different version for Neo Geo), the Gunbird and Samurai Aces series, and the fantasy game Dragon Blaze. These games are known for their multiple difficulty levels and incredibly fast-paced, refined gameplay. Before iiRcade closed in 2023, most Psikyo games were available on its digital store, and some players are still able to enjoy them if their cabinets are still working.
