Release date for New Doom, which will take players to alternative Middle Ages, leaked (rumor)

Last year during the Xbox Games Showcase, a fresh addition to the Doom series titled “The Dark Ages” was unveiled. Back then, it was revealed that the game would be launched in 2025, but no specific release date was provided. However, recently, clues suggesting that the wait won’t be prolonged have surfaced online.

According to a previous article published by the French gaming website GameKult about “Doom: The Dark Ages,” it had been announced that the game would be released on May 15, 2025. This information was later removed from the site, but as we all know, nothing truly disappears online and some readers were able to capture screenshots of the article before it vanished.

The article hints that the release date will be disclosed during the Xbox Developer Direct event happening tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. It’s worth noting that Microsoft has confirmed showing the new Doom game at this event, suggesting GameKult may have published their text prematurely.

Doom: The Dark Ages” is the sixth addition to the popular shooter franchise, serving as a prequel to the 2016 game. The story transports us to an original depiction of the Middle Ages, delving into the early days of Doom Guy’s career. Combat remains centered around the annihilation of legions of demons. Developers have mentioned that this installment takes inspiration from the original series and promises larger, more intricate maps compared to those in Eternal.

The game titled “Doom: The Dark Ages” is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. On its debut day, it will also be accessible through Game Pass.
