As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Mediapro Studio’s North American division, stepping into the role of Head of U.S. Hispanic Content. This new position is part of their strategic expansion in our region, and I can hardly wait to contribute my creative expertise to this exciting venture!
Established just a year ago, the L.A.-based operations of our studio, headed by J.C. Acosta, have been strengthening its offerings in English. Meanwhile, Ricagni will oversee the additional strategy for U.S. Hispanic content, targeting Spanish-speaking TV networks, service providers, and streaming platforms across North America. The significant Latino market, numbering over 60 million within the U.S. and more than 650 million globally, presents a profitable opportunity in this endeavor.
Acosta remarked that Francesca’s extensive background, wide-reaching connections with talented professionals, and proficiency in engaging American Hispanic audiences, makes her an ideal candidate for our team.”
“According to Acosta, Francesca’s deep-rooted experience, expansive network of skilled contacts, and ability to captivate U.S. Hispanic spectators, make her a great match for our team.
During this pivotal period in our field, I’m thrilled about joining The Mediapro Studio U.S. and Canada team. This presents a remarkable chance to craft profound, genuine tales that resonate deeply with the American Hispanic demographic while capturing international interest. As we collaborate with emerging and exceptional Hispanic talent, we eagerly look forward to blazing new trails, highlighting our intricate, multifaceted experiences, and generating content that honors our narratives, culture, and distinctive viewpoints, raising them all on a global platform. – Ricagni
As a movie reviewer, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Francesca Ricagni’s exceptional contributions to the Apple TV+ family. She was a pivotal force behind “Land of Women,” a captivating series that showcased Eva Longoria in her first Spanish-speaking lead role. Moreover, she played an essential part in the creation of “Acapulco,” a critically acclaimed series featuring the talented Eugenio Derbez. In its fourth season now, “Acapulco” has earned significant recognition, including The Comedy Series Award at the Critics Choice Awards during the 4th annual Celebration of Latino Cinema and Television.
Francesca also played a crucial role in bringing “Midnight Family,” a groundbreaking production by Fabula and Oscar-winning director Pablo Larraín’s company, to Apple TV+. This series won Best International Series at the same Critics Choice event, further bolstering Apple TV+’s presence in U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets.
At Amazon Studios, Francesca played a significant role in crafting the studio’s original Latin American content. She supervised more than 30 projects in various stages of development, including popular series like “Como Sobrevivir Soltero,” “Porno y Helado,” “El Fin del Amor” and the second installment of “Juego de las Llaves.
