It seems like we’ll have to wait quite a while before Virgin River Season 7 arrives… So, in the meantime, fans might want to check out Hallmark for a similar TV series that would have ideally been on Netflix instead.
As a gaming enthusiast, even I was taken aback by the unexpected fusion of Netflix and Hallmark streaming services. Unlike the former that serves up intense dramas with jaw-dropping plot twists, the latter… well, it’s not quite in the same league.
To this point, since 2019, Virgin River has stood out among Netflix’s hits, with Season 7 extending its status as their longest-running original series. As we noted in our review of Season 6, what truly sets it apart is its exploration of everyday dramas.
However, let’s discuss the connection between this situation and Hallmark. Lisa Hamilton Daly, who was previously a content executive at Netflix, found herself in a unique position when Hallmark’s biggest hit was being developed. Unfortunately, it didn’t materialize on Netflix, but fans can still experience the excitement firsthand.
Virgin River fans will love Hallmark’s The Way Home
Originally, Daly created “The Way Home” while working at Netflix. After ascending to the role of Executive Vice President of Programming at Hallmark in 2021, she decided to bring the series along with her when she departed, marking a significant turn of events in its history.
Openly stating, The Way Home doesn’t follow the exact pattern of small-town dramas like Virgin River. Instead, it delves into the lives of three women from the Landry family: Alice, Kat, and Del, portrayed by Andie MacDowell from Four Weddings and a Funeral. However, there’s an interesting twist; a mystical time-traveling pond on their property allows them to explore various timelines.
Through an unexpected finding by Alice, the family managed to uncover their ancestry from the 1990s, the 1800s, and presently in the 1970s. If you find this description perplexing, I’d agree with you. If you’ve ever participated in a Virgin River online community, think of it as an identical scenario, but the history is significantly richer and more intricate.
As a gamer immersed in this captivating game, I’ve journeyed through three seasons so far. Mysteries abound: an infant left abandoned, a pair of strangers who seem to have deserted it, a young lad trapped in 1790 after diving into a pond pursuing his pup. To top it all off, Alice’s deceased grandfather is mysteriously time-traveling as a teenager, and we’re all baffled by the hows and whys.
This TV series is an exhilarating watch that challenges your mind, but the reward is exceptionally gratifying. Picture a nuptials scene as passionate as Mel and Jack’s, a mystery surrounding Charmaine’s vanishing that keeps you on edge, and a long-standing feud between Doc and Everett that borders on madness – amplified for maximum thrill.
Should you find “The Way Home” appealing, you can catch Seasons 1-2 on Hallmark+ right now. Meanwhile, new episodes of Season 3 are airing every week on the Hallmark Channel.
Currently streaming on Netflix, you can catch up with Virgin River Season 6! We’ve got a handy recap of past events, an analysis of the series finale, insights into the outcome of Preacher’s trial, and a look at what secrets Everett shared with Mel. Enjoy the ride!
